Project Summary

Our Project APPLE , Active Performant Personalized Lifelong Education, which means the different aspects of life (cultural, historical, digital) as well as the various challenges European students are bound to encounter while preparing for their further studies and future careers, is a twenty-four-month exchange of good practices project developed by two vocational training centres, one from Portugal and one from Lithuania, and by four General education schools from Turkey, Romania, Greece and Spain that are going to work together involving both teachers and students willing to exchange and share knowledge on how to make students aware of the reality they have to face of limited work, education, social, cultural and economic opportunities.
For these reasons we are going to focus on three main areas:
Learning and innovation skills: critical thinking and problem solving
Digital literacy skills: information literacy, media literacy, ICT literacy
Career and life skills: flexibility and adaptability, initiative and self-direction, social and cross- cultural interaction, etc.
We are dealing with the areas above-mentioned in order to offer our students more opportunities to enhance their overall performance, so, to be able to keep track of their future study. So the main topics are ICT and social networks, different good practices in each partner school’s curriculum, active learning experiences, soft skills.
OBJECTIVES AND RESULTS.1.Implementing innovative strategies to increase students’ motivation 2.Development of transversal competences and soft skills for our students 3.Exchange of good practices between the partner schools regarding different approaches for an improved education 4.Improving English language knowledge. 5.Promoting the European dimension in education.
Target project results: •Project logo and templates •Project website with open sources •A survival kit(in English and national languages)•Seminars held by professionals (universities) related to career orientation •Visits to companies and interviews with staff •Visits in each partners’ region to raise the cultural and historical awareness•European added value surveys given and used by both students and teachers after each visit General project results:•Improvement of ICT skills, multi-linguism and entrepreneurialism within students •Social inclusion of students with fewer opportunities •Correlation between academic and social skills •Consolidating School-University-Economic Agent partnership •Internationalisation of educational process
PARTICIPANTS.
Each school establishes an Erasmus + team made of about 2 or 3 expert teachers and 18-20 motivated students who will work in the Project. Students who want to take part in the Erasmus + Teams go through a selection process.(application form, questionnaires and interviews)
ACTIVITIES.
We have designed several activities to be carried out by students and which have to do with cultural awareness and expression. They will focus on school life as an opportunity for them to develop their sense of cultural identity, also the students will investigate and work on the balance between school and family life outside the school. They will work on ICT and social Networks in European students’ lives and on the importance of transversal competencies and soft skills in order to cope with future concerns and to manage to find the best career for themselves. Besides, they will investigate about the dying languages in their countries and they will research and observe how local businesses and startups work. On the first day the students will have ice-breaking activities to get to know the rest of participants, later on , they will be split into mixed international groups. The whole group will attend conferences and they will visit local companies and institutions where they can interview both workers and managers for their reports, also, they will have a cultural day together and everything will be published on the website and on social networks.
This project will improve both students’ and teachers’ knowledge about entrepreneurship throughout Europe. It will help all of us to overcome our prejudices and broaden our minds. As they get to improve their English, they also discover partner countries’ language. Also,by working together, students will develop soft skills like team work, problem-solving. The project will definitely improve both students’ and teachers’ ICT skills and providing them the chance to make a prospect about their future job and to become more aware of the importance of developing transversal competencies needed in pursuing a successful career and in acquiring entrepreneurial knowledge.
To sum up, our cooperation will lead to a more comprehensive European awareness and will answer the need to exercise English language, to change students’ perspectives, to cultivate interculturality; in other words, we expect both teachers and students to put their minds on the move.
