Project Summary

One of the goals of the project was that the participants in the project (and more young people in Europe through the dissemination of the results) should get a clear idea of what the priorities of different employers in the countries in question prioritized when hiring. That young people within Europe get knowledge about how the different employers reason and what conclusions they can draw from it, what differences there are between the employers of the countries and what is important to think about in the process when looking for a job. The concrete result was thought to increase the participants’ European employability through the new knowledge they develop within the framework of the project, and that their ability to adapt to specific requirements within the different cultures should increase.

An additional goal was that the project participants (and more young people within Europe through the dissemination of the results) should benefit from knowing what is needed to study at a university level in the different countries (Sweden, Germany, Italy, Spain, Portugal). It was meant to be about gaining knowledge of formal requirements such as admission procedure, eligibility requirements and costs, as well as more informal requirements (cultural requirements), about what is expected of the students at universities in the different countries, how teaching and examinations are practiced and what role the teaching lecturers/professors are practicing etc, and what support the students can get in their studies of employed staff at the universities. Students should also have gained insight into student life based on the students’ perspective. The concrete result that was expected to be achieved was that more young people in Europe through an increased knowledge and sense of security, should dare to take the step and study outside their home country – which contributes to increased intercultural exchange, development, and cohesion within Europe.

The project began with the students having local planning meetings to lay the foundation for the entire project, with the aim of providing good conditions for achieving the goals set.

The first few months were devoted to creating contact between all the students involved in the project through video calls and written communication. Another important part, of course, was that all students were well acquainted with the actual content of the project and its goals. Then work began by establishing the necessary contacts in order to be able to carry out the transnational meetings in a way that should meet the objectives of the project. Each country’s student group were to organize visits to companies in the region and the city’s university. Furthermore, the student had to create the project’s website as well as learn interview techniques and all the components needed to produce a podcast, photography and marketing strategies.

Content:
1. Introduction to all parts of the project (preparation, goal setting, implementation, dissemination activities)
2. Contact creation between pupils in the different countries via video link based on the transnational working groups created.
3. Organized the transnational meeting in the host country. Each school had to organize visits to at least three companies and the city university. At the university, students should meet students, student counselors and departmental heads.
4. The project’s website should be created.
5. Interview techniques are taught to the students at each school.
6. The art of recording a podcast (technical specifications and basic implementation methodology) was taught to the students.
7. A photo course for taking semi-professional photos to the website was required.
8. Marketing strategies to disseminate the results through different types of media.
9. Interview questions were developed together in the transnational working groups. Ideas for upcoming podcasts had to be discussed.

Furthermore, five transnational meetings were to be carried out. These would aim to collect material for interviews, podcasts and information texts, which would then have been published on the website. Another purpose, of course, was that the students should gain knowledge about the basic issues on which the project is based.

Between the transnational meetings, both national and international project lessons were to be carried out. Here, the students should have processed their experiences and the material they had accumulated during the transnational meetings and completed the material that then would have been published on the website.

A summarized hope of achieving results was that the project would help young people in the different countries to feel more comfortable with – and take the step in practice – to exploit the opportunities in the labor market and studies that their EU citizenship provides. This was meant to be achieved through knowledge for which different options there are to utilize these opportunities.
