Project Summary

“Coding in space – education beyond devisions” is innovative and interdisciplinary project based on Maths – Science group of subjects. It is important to improve the level of the key competences for successful learning. Coding seems to be the new and interesting method to make learning more involving and to integrate students with learning dysfunctions and differences in nationalities, culture, religion or background. The project activities are oriented to cooperate within the partner European schools, to accept the differences and to enrich the knowledge about ourselves. Five European
schools from Poland, Sweden, Bulgaria, Italy and Romania will take part in a variety of activities where coding and English language is supposed to join all the participants – students, teachers as well as parents in local community. All students aged 9 – 14 will be involved in project implementation. The activities including Maths-Science as well as social competences will be varied and based on cooperative work. The students will take part in contests, cultural projects, lessons with coding in Maths, Science with elements of Geography, Biology and Physics, integrating classes and events including tasks with coding inside and outside, coding with and without robots, making boards for coding with robots or writing postcards to NASA or ISC. They will take part in 3 exchange visits and evaluation at the beginning and after the project. The leading theme is space as a universal topic that may interest and join all learners from different age groups and countries. The teachers will learn coding as a new method in practice and improve teaching with dysfunction students and solving social problems at schools. They will prepare the rules of contests and projects, make website and displays, write lesson plans and carry out the lessons with using coding on different Maths-Science subjects, join discussion groups on eTwinning platform, organize videoconferences, invent integration games for students and organizing mobilities, They will also take part in 6 visits (including 3 staff training events on coding and social problems at schools), write questionnaires for students, teachers and parents at the beginning and at the end of the project, carry out the surveys and present the results of the evaluation, publish and disseminate the project as well as final products. The parents will help to organize school events joining students with local communities, take part in some integration activities, help in organization the student exchange visits, participate in evaluation and dissemination of the project results. The project will bring new experiences to students, teachers and parents. It will increase the motivation to learn and to teach, improve students’ key competences and the results of teaching, positively influence the relations between students or even students and their parents as well as open to other nations, cultures and differences in background and learning. Two final products “Coding in space” a teacher guide with lesson plans and „The Same but Different in Europe” an album with integrating activities for students will help to continue the project after the project. They will be published and known locally as well as disseminated in online educational resources or platforms globally.
