Project Summary

The project “Digital Link for Yourope” (D.L.Y.) expresses the main objective of the project: to create a link between European partners around a current problem which is the proper use of the IT tool.
The computer practices of our students as well as our fellow teachers (use of an intranet network, shares, social networks, messaging, etwinning, etc.), at the level of a high school can be improved. We have no real feedback on their effectiveness, their relevance…
The Erasmus+ partnership allowed us to compare our practices with those of our European partners and to progress thanks to many exchanges.
In addition, participants had the opportunity to develop various skills, in the English language through the field of communication and, through education in innovative computer practices.
D.L.Y. allowed our students to meet and exchange in a common language (English) with other teenagers concerned by the same subject: evaluate our computer practices within the schools, analyze them and communicate solutions to improve learning methods.

During the international meeting, as well as during the virtual meetings, students have to present in English their school, their work team and the progress of their work within the framework of the project. In both countries, our students improved in speaking out, in presenting to an audience. The main objective of this project was the improvement of pupils in basic skills: use of the English language as a European communication tool and perfection of the use of the IT tool. The second aim is to fight against school dropouts by including in this project pupils in difficulty motivated by innovative digital practices and European meetings.

The European Commission has developed the SELFIE tool, which is designed to help institutions evaluate their learning methods in the digital age, target needs, and good or bad uses. This project D.L.Y., over a period of one year with our Italian partner, aimed to:
– Conduct an inventory of our IT and digital practices using this SELFIE tool;
– through the results collected, to establish a parallel and a comparison between the two high schools;
– implement a plan to improve our practices in order to optimize digital gateways between our institutions by integrating best practices.

This cross-disciplinary approach of our practices motivated and raised the interest of students in difficulties and dropouts, but who nevertheless use the IT tool. They found the opportunity to develop skills rarely used. These activities in foreign languages with the use of computer tools were organized in a less institutional framework than the classic course. For our audience far from large urban centers, this project also allowed us to travel and meet another culture.

Every week, a dedicated course has been made available for students to work on the project. During this time, students took ownership of the Selfie software and then communicated to all members of their high school. Students had to lead this first presentation. Then, because of the lock down, it was difficult to analyze the Selfie feedback and to communicate new approaches and new uses.

Involved students used various technical presentations, statistical processing methods and innovative evaluation methods such as the use of Qrcodes.

During the European meeting, and during the virtual meetings, students exclusively used English as the main language of the project. We aimed to improve the language’s skills of students and teachers. This objective has clearly been achieved.

This D.L.Y. project has allowed a new development of computer practices so that the two schools fixed themselves in this new technological era.
