Project Summary
The title of the project is “Photographic Education for Altruism, Compassion and Empathy” with the acronym PEACE. The idea for this project occurred from our desire to mingle the young people’s interest in digital devices with the necessity of drawing their attention towards the current world issues, world that our youngsters need to learn how to make it better by encouraging them and their fellows in being more tolerant, more generous and sensitive.
The coordinator is LYCEE PROFESSIONNEL LA TRINITE, Martinique, France and the partners are:
Colegiul National CANTEMIR-VODA from Bucharest, Romania
SOLSKI CENTER KRSKO SEVNICA, Krsko, Slovenia
IES Cruz Santa, Tenerife, Spain
Technikum TEB Edukacja w Lesznie, Leszno, Poland
Escola Secundária de Loulé, Loule, Portugal.
The duration of the project is 24 months, starting from 1st of September 2018.
The participant students are between 14 and 18 years old.
Language: English.
Students with fewer opportunities (disabilities, immigrants, economic difficulties, geographical obstacles) will be involved in the project.
The objectives of the project are:
1) developing photographic art skills as well as creative and artistic skills
2) developing digital skills and using them efficiently
3) raising pupils’ civic sense and desire to engage themselves in solving current world issues.
These objectives are SMART: specific, measurable (evaluation tools will be created and used), achievable (the material bases and the skilled human resource exist), relevant (they satisfy 3 important horizontal or sectorial priorities) and time-bound (deadlines and duration are established).
The tasks and responsibilities among the partners are distributed as follows:
-France: monitoring, facebook group, a sitography about photography
-Poland: promoting and sustainability, a methodological guide to teach photographic art, evaluation tools for photographic skills
-Romania: design of the project, ensuring communication, a calendar, evaluation tools for editing photos
-Slovenia: project’s website, digital cards
-Spain: assessment
-Portugal: dissemination, eTwinning, project’s logo.
During the project PEACE, the meetings will be held, as given below:
3 transnational project meetings, in Poland, Spain and Portugal
4 short-term joint staff training events, in Slovenia, Romania, Poland and France
6 short-term exchanges of groups of pupils, one in each country.
The expected results of this partnership are:
1) development of learners’ skills in photographic art and of their creativity
2) increased awareness and empathy to the current problems of the world
3) improved digital skills to edit images, video files, PowerPoint files, to access the internet efficiently for learning and self instruction
4) improved students’ school results decreasing the risk of early school leaving
5) intensified exchanges of learning experience
6) development of students’ and teachers’ language skills
7) intensified collaboration between teachers and young people from Europe
Additional results are expected: developing team spirit, critical thinking, enlarging the cultural horizon, increasing tolerance towards other fellows.
The main outcomes of this project are:
-6 exhibitions of photography, displayed in both real and virtual environment
-a website
-a wall calendar for 2021 with 12 motivational pictures
-a list of web pages or blogs about photography
-a methodological guide on the topic of photography.
During the partnership, a wide variety of activities will be organized for: implementation, promotion, selection of the people involved, designing necessary tools, communication, assessment, dissemination, sustainability, training in photography, ICT, linguistic, cultural domain. The proposed activities are listed in Timetable and, for each of them we’ve developed a plan that includes: objectives, people in charge, target groups, location, time and duration, methods and means used, expected results, evaluation tools and methods.
We have plans for handling possible risks, too.
Some of the most relevant activities are: training activities and workshops for students and teachers, organized locally or at a transnational level, class attendance in partnered schools, photo-hunting, dissemination of the project results. At the end of staff training events, arrangements for recognition or validation of the learning outcomes of the participants will be done by getting the Europass Mobility Document.
The impact of the project will be considerable at all levels: local, regional, national, European. The wall calendar and the thematic exhibitions held in each of the participant institutions by joint collaboration, will raise the public’s attention towards the necessity of friendly relations between people, towards efficient communication in solving, peacefully, the problems that we deal with in this century and towards adopting the right attitude to our fellows so as to preserve a fundamental human right: the right to peace.
