Project Summary

We need to strengthen children’s and students’ critical thinking and media literacy, so they can judge and overcome the ever-present threats of fake news, cyber bullying, radicalisation, cybersecurity threats and fraud (COM2018)

The pace of change will be so rapid that students will learn ‘in the moment using new technologies such as augmented reality and virtual reality. The ability to gain new knowledge will be more valuable than the knowledge itself. In such new world, the qualifications and knowledge will be relevant, but not sufficiently. The critical thinking, the media literacy and the digital literacy will not be advantages but rather disadvantages for those do not having them.

Children in our schools are mass consumers of media. On average, each of them spends 1,500 hours a year watching television. Roughly 98% of our students have Internet access in their homes, and most of them use it daily.According to the latest data, Face book has 1.45 billion users each day, 5 billion videos are uploaded daily on You tube , 800 million are active on Instagram every day. But there is one problem. There are lost in the world of the media because they do not know how to perceive and use them in the right way. Rather, humankind needs to be taught how to process information that is stored through technology. Education needs to be geared toward the handling of data rather than the accumulation of data.

This problem with low media literacy knowledge is related to our students from all partner countries according to Media literacy index for 2018 where all partners country have low media literacy index (especially Romania 38%,Turkey 16% an Macedonia 10%) but also the other partners countries too.

Our project ”See the world through the eyes of reality ” is related to media literacy and its goal is to “awake” students, parents and teachers and bring them back to reality with the help of critical thinking and the proper use of the media through social inclusion.

• Developing critical thinking and media literacy by 80% after completion of the project
• To return students to real social life. Develop awareness of the importance of physical activity and a healthy lifestyle that are neglected due to Internet addiction for 80%
• Reduction the damage from computer games for 80%
• Reduction abuse of personal data and profiles on social networks for 80%
• To create increased productivity and interest in educational programs for all school subjects in order to reduce the number of students leaving school.
• Develop awareness and skills among parents to establish a proper relationship between their children and the media.
• Strengthening the educational capacities and skills of media literacy and professional development in a European context

These activities we will develop awareness and skills among parents to establish a proper relationship between their children and the media.
