Project Summary

Following a KA-1 project in the 2015/16 academic year, the IES Rafael Alberti (Cádiz) and the Lycée Roland Garros (Le Tampon, island of La Réunion – French overseas department and outermost European region) – come into contact . Since then, the two centers have signed a collaboration agreement, thanks to which IES R. Alberti welcomes 4 French teachers during the 2016/17 school year to “observe good practices” in a European KA-1 project. Throughout the next two school years (2017/18 and 18/19) the IES Rafael Alberti also welcomes students from the Lycée Roland Garros, whose visits have a wide impact throughout the center. In addition, IES R. Alberti faculty has completed 4 teaching periods at the Lycée R. Garros (KA-101) during the years 2017/18 and 2018/19. On the other hand, the Lycée R.Garros, holds regular meetings with the Collège Plateau Goyaves (Saint-Louis), located in a depressed socio-cultural environment and which is included in the “Priority Education Network” of France (REP +), to build bridges between both centers and create new educational opportunities, using Spanish as a tool of inclusion and motivation to avoid school dropouts. In 2019, the Lycée R.Garros, signed a collaboration agreement with the IES Suárez de Figueroa (Zafra, Extremadura), which joins the three already mentioned centers for the current project, since it has a student body with similar socio-economic characteristics , which makes us share motivations and interests.
The realization of this project pursues the achievement of various OBJECTIVES. On the one hand, that students are able to travel and integrate into another European school system, as well as welcome and integrate students from other European countries into their center. It is expected that students increase their linguistic competence in foreign languages and become aware of the richness of being European citizens, offering them a panorama of equal opportunities. Another objective is to promote the ambition of students to continue their studies through confidence in their own competences and accompany them in their educational orientation to avoid absenteeism and dropping out of school. It also aims to increase the number of students who consider the option of a training period in another European country. All students will be able to understand and value European cultural diversity as their own and promote appreciation for different European cultures. There will also be an impact on the center in the increase of the number of European projects, an enrichment of partner networks through the development of Twinspaces or other platforms, etc.
As for the PARTICIPANTS in the student sector, on the one hand, we have those who will participate in the mobilities: in the Spanish centers they will be students of 1st year of Bachillerato who study French (15-17 years), in the Lycée Roland Garros they will be students of 1ère of the BACHIBAC section (15-17 years old) and in the Collège Plateau Goyaves, the students will be of 3ème (13-14 years old). On the other hand, local students who do not participate in mobility will also benefit greatly, since they will be involved in local activities of preparation, dissemination and school exchanges of all kinds. The intention is for the project to have a multiplier effect and reach as many students as possible.
The teachers directly involved will be the French departments of the Spanish centers, the BACHIBAC section of the Lycée Roland Garros and the Spanish Department of the Lycée Plateau Goyaves.
The main ACTIVITY will be the integration of the students in the life of the centers. The visiting students will know another school system and another educational methodology, thus increasing its versatility to adapt to new situations throughout its future formation; local students will also enrich their training through direct interaction with classmates. Specific activities will also be developed around the themes of the project: diversity and European citizenship, creativity and art …
In all the activities an active and participative METHODOLOGY will be used, with a fundamental role of inclusion and coeducation through the creation of international and intercultural work teams. Students will not be a spectator, but the creator and protagonist of their own learning, which will be the result of experience.
The RESULTS in the medium and long term will be diverse: The improvement of their communicative skills and awareness of their European citizenship with an increase of mutual and intercultural knowledge through the discovery of “the other”, which will help a general competence improvement; on the other hand, a series of PRODUCTS such as: videos, photographic presentations, texts and artistic productions that will be shared in the dissemination activities and through the eTwinning platform.
