Project Summary

The project “Dream a present to live a future : twinning between Illiers Combray and Puente Genil” is a project of twinning between France and Spain. This project, carried out by the language teachers of Marcel Proust High school, started in 2018throughthe E-Twinning platform. It allowed to being Marcel Proust and Compania de Maria together on a common will of twinning. Both schools have project, therefore coming withinthe scope of the approach started with E-Twinning.

Marcel Proust High school is a rural school situated in Eure et Loir between Beauce and Perche. This school is quite isolated as it is far from Chartres and it welcomes pupils who are more than 42% to be disavantaged. So the school has a true will of opening with the creation of a European Language and Culture section (ELC) in Spanish in 2018 and in German in 2019. The axis on international opening is an integral part of the performance agreement and of the school plan. Yet the reduced cultural opening of our students and the financial difficulties of some families are obstacles to the construction of mobility projects despite the suport of the social fund. The support by local players (twinning comity, town council) and institutional (ERASMUS) make up a lever to develop the international opening policy. Actions are also led to reduce the financial participation of the families in the framework of those projects.

The project comes within the scope of the continuity of an E-twinning initiative which started in the framework of a European Laguage and Culture teachings and which allowed to establish the first exchanges and to work on common themes in both schools. In this approach of exchange, the stablishement of a mobility is coherent to allow the students to continue the exchange via the E-Twinning platform but also to meet each other. This approachaims at welcoming a group of 20 Spanish penpals from Decemberin Marcel Proust High school with a welcome in families. Their stay will be organized with a time of immersion within the school, a common work on Christmas and Marcel Proust and visits of Chartes and Paris. Compania de Maria school will provide the fnancing ofthis part of the mobility . In return 20 students of year 10 in Marcel Proust High school and in ELC (selections based on olunterring and interviews). Will go and meet thei penpal in Puente Genil in Febuary. To prepare this return mobility, our students will work in interdisciplinarity with Maths and History-Geography teachers to acquire civilizational notions about theses territories. The aim of this exchange is triple with a rise of the skills in languages, the acquisition of knowledge an European culture and the development of skills linked to the digital technology with the continuation of the project. The student will be welcomed in the families with a 3 day immersion in Compania de Maria as well as a visit in Puente Genil with the Spanish penpals. Visits will then be organized around three big cities (Cordoba, Granada and Seville) in the logic of discovering Al Andalus.

The expected results are numerous both in the long and short term as we would like these students to develop linguistic and civilizational skills that will be useful to them in their scholarship. Indicators such as accreditation of prior learning (Cycle 4), the presentation of the project for the oral of their diploma (Brevet), the certifications in foreign languages, the application in European section or the return of their fifth form will be used in the scope of the appraisal report. This project will also be the subject of communication to the entire education community to highlight its importance and to establish the attractiveness of the Spanich ELC teaching. Times of presentation in classes of year 8, for the welcomeof the 5th years of Primacy school, for the open day or during the evening “Back from trip” will allow to ensure a bigger spreading and highlight the students’ work. The coverage with the departemental referent of the DAREIC will also allow to value this project with the DSDEN 28 and the Academy.

The establishment of such a project perfectly comes within the scope of the opening to territories policy of the academic project and allows to give an actual meaning to teaching. The pursuit of this project in a longer term is the will of all the members so that it creates strong links between the paricipants and a long lasting parnership betwwen the schools.
