Project Summary
At the beginning of the project, the workshop on sustainable development of the Collège Jacques Monod has been working for several years on the theme of climate change. The French team regularly presents its research and experiences. In particular, the group was invited to present about its work at COP21 in Paris.
For this new European project Erasmus + KA229, we have proposed to collaborate with several partners on the issue of climate change. After depositing a project on etwinning, different schools quickly came forward to share their experiences and to co-build the program.
Schools that have committed are medium-sized with pupils between 11 and 15 years of age. They have in common the wish to propose mobilities to a group of pupils who may have economic and social difficulties.
Throughout this project, the various partners will enrich the group with their experiences of European programmes (some schools have the etwinning label)and the different structures can serve as witness to various knowledges related to the concept of sustainable development.
In this context, Portuguese, Spanish, Italian, Greeks, Lithuanians and French, we have invested ourselves in order to propose a collaborative project.
The TwinSpace platform allowed us to build a two-year program, consistent and complementary.
This programme is organized around various themes:
France: The ocean, a new space for food production.
– Demonstration of experiences about carbon dioxide to show the issues of global Warming –
Spain: Land soil pollution
– Protecting the environnement and keeping up to date on the latest developments in STEM education (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math) –
Portugal: The importance of Forests and the efficient use of energy.
– Approach the changes in the Portuguese climate that are making country similar to the North of Africa and its consequences –
Italy: Urban sustainability and Co-operative design.
– Work on virtual projects with the cooperation of local experts and associations to restore local areas –
Greece : The concept of Sustainable development.
– Renewable sources of energy as a means of sustainable development and alternative forms of tourism as an option for sustainable development of a region –
Lithuania : Sea treasures.
– Sea stories in the city, sea treasures from all partner countries –
As a highlight of these various meetings, we envisage a strong time at COP26 in Wallonia.
In particular, a message of testifying to our climate work will be sent to politicians. This is in order to make constructive and operational proposals for the future of the planet.
In terms of organization, we use different digital platforms but also exchange networks like WhatsApp to communicate with each other (pupils/pupils, pupils/teachers and teachers/teachers ).
Monthly meetings are scheduled, but we have also planned working, synthesis and drafting times.
This planning work allows us to construct over a period of two years an alternation of meetings, preparation meetings, virtual workshops and different forms of exchanges.
The various realisations (ebook, website, model, experiments, films, slideshow, … ) planned for our students are as many points of pedagogical support, of disciplinary knowledge and of constructions of an Eco-European citizenship.
The documentary book will, of course, be a thread in our common history, but also a vector of communication to the outside.
A communication plan is also constructed in the direction of the various partners, parents, local elected officials, the press and the various media. At national and European level, we will present our work to our institutional partners.
For the accommodation, we will opt for our students to stay in a privilege environnement with families in order to take full advantage of the linguistic and cultural exchanges.
In order to evaluate this project, we selected observable indicators on various aspects such as motivation, collegiality, cooperation and commitment.
Another important aspect of this topic is that it is easily transferable and we wish to continue this adventure beyond the two years of the Erasmus+ convention.
To conclude, the idea of this work around climate change is to bring out and support a European reflexion eco-citizens in order to contribute to an awareness of this major phenomenon and structuring for the years to come.
We have the ambition to try to make young Europeans of today into the informed actors of tomorrow and through these European Mobilities to collectively build a message of hope to preserve together the future of the planet Earth.
