Project Summary

The project “Brücken bauen”, including the regions around Anger/Austria and Szederkeny/Hungry, was established …
… to create a greater understanding of the cultural, social and linguistic diversity between the participants.
… to influence the opinions towards a pro-EU mindset
… to increase the knowledge of new media and the necessary skills

Part of this projects are the students of the third, fourth and fifth grade in Anger. These students are between 9 and 12 years old. The approximate number of participants is 40. During the school year of 2019/20 there will be a focus on this partnership with an emphasis on didactics. The personal interaction between the pupils is going to be the main focus of the project. The relationship between these two organizations will be established and increased through an exchange of letters, video calls and the personal contact through an exchange. The communication will be in German to increase language skills and the competence of expression.

Methods of the project:
The pupils teach themselves with the help of new media about their own environment (nature, culture and traditions, language and literature). They create teaching material either written or as videos to explain what they’ve learned. The outcome is transferred to the partner school.
As a first step the communication skills is developed through written contact. They become pen pals. The speaking and listening skills are increased through video calls. In the last step a social component is included and the pupils from both schools go on a school trip together. During this week full of fun the pupils will increase all their skills.

Long term goal:
This projects connects students and will decrease their fear of otherness. This connection hopefully leads to a relationship without prejudice and will benefit their future jobs (in particular, in tourism). Also the use of new media, in particular the sources of digital communication, will help the pupils in
