Project Summary

This project has been created to understand, evaluate and support reconfiguration of one of the most upstanding areas in Human Rights discussion, gender equality, by studying several examples from home, schools and workplaces. The project aims to raise awareness towards both human rights putting Declaration of Children Rights into its centre, and gender equality by leading students on their way to better acknowledgement of these rights, inequalities, and pursue them to create more equal, self-constructed, independent and strong future. Our project shall examine definitions, perceptions and practices of gender equality and inequality concepts across Europe, while participants shall also experience different types of both the obstacles and the prospecting solutions (models) for this human rights issue. Project shall help participants to grasp the understanding of equality in a more general view, enabling them to gain experiences under certain concepts such as human (and children) rights, European citizenship, being an individual, participating in workforce, family practices and cultural practices.
Our project aims to create an environment for children in which genders are equally treated, well understood and established, to understand gender equality in order to support good practices and behaviours among and towards children, to create awareness of equal opportunities at school, at work and at cultural-social life for all genders, to improve intercultural awareness and sense of gender identity, to acquire European values like acceptance, tolerance, non-discrimination to improve a certain effort in the field of social and cultural development of children as future European citizens, to learn about different cultures, their dynamics in terms of gender identity, and equality.
Being our main target group, students are 6-14yo in each school and teachers are the participants of the exchanges and supervisors of school activities all along the project. The project partners are selected according to their demographic, geographic/cultural and historical backgrounds in relation to the subject. Historical and demographic research for historical, demographic and economic variables in relation to gender issues across Europe are made. We firstly considered geographic data that is North, South, East and West of Europe for even distribution regarding aforementioned criteria. Secondly, GDP data and cultural / political / social data are used. Partners decided on which characteristics and values are required to be included for a well-structured work under the project subject.
LTTAs are planned as follows: C1 – What Is Gender Equality–definitions, basics, questionnaires, early childhood construction of gender identity stories from each partner country, historical background. C2 – Gender Equality At Home; Photo albums, “a life at home”, gender biases, roles, identifying gender at early childhood examples from children. C3 – Gender Equality At School; video presentations via games and role playing, who plays with what. C4 – Gender Equality At Workplaces; Interviews with female/male staff, equal opportunities, wage gaps, discrimination examples, good practices etc. C5 – Gender Equality For All; Dictionary, written, video and audio presentations.
Our project targets to reflect solutions for determined types of gender inequalities for each participant and acknowledge possible cross-country solutions especially for participants having such difficulties and inequalities, to make school and family environment aware of equality among genders as a basic human right, to involve students in practical activities to stimulate their integration into EU by transmitting the project transnationally and comparing different cultures across Europe. Our project also aims to increase motivation among teachers of partner countries to enable the exchange of good practices, cooperation and collaboration among EU teachers, to increase expertise in running Erasmus+ projects developing communication, interpersonal and social skills among both teachers and students. It shall also have an impact on the language used at home and in education to avoid sexism and discrimination at all levels of communication.
