Project Summary

Coding with outdoor games aims to contribute to enhancing teaching approaches of digital education with the help of varying experiences of 6 primary schools from Turkey, North Macedonia, Romania, Italy, UK and Lithuania. In order to prepare students to information-age, coding and digital literacy must be the part of education practices. But too much digitalization causes some problems like decreasing physical activiy. Our project has an innovative structure in
this perspective. We aim to have a solution for digitalization and declining physical activity. Our project will encourage the partner schools to promote innovative and collaborative approaches in order to develop computational thinking skills of young people while stimulating them to see underlying basic algorithms of outdoor games. By this way, students will also able to integrate coding skills into the real life situations. For this purpose, we’ll design innovative and collaborative lesson plans. While doing this, we’ll benefit from varying experiences and skills of every partner country.
There are 6 partner schools in this project. All partners schools are primary schools (students ages are between 6 – 14). The 6 partner schools of our project merged through the eTwinning platform. All partner schools has a expertise on different ares. Burhaniye Bilim ve Sanat Merkezi has a leader role in the local area with the project-based curriculum. Also art is an important factor in the school curriculum as it can be seen in the school name. OOU Petar Pop Arsov is an eTwinning school and invests in the physical development of the students and as a result, our achievements in the field of sports are at a high level. West Newcastle Academy has an innovative curriculum about outdoor learning and has badges because of this curriculum. Direzione Didattica 1° Circolo Pagani has held a project about coding with unplugged activities through primary schools students successfully. Vilties progimnazija is a school which has an innovative curriculum. It has extra lessons for arts like dance and creative drama. And finally, Scoala Gimnaziala, comuna Pietrar is also involved a national project about coding for kids and has a crafting workshop for student. In all these partner schools, digitalization is a common need. Our project will blend the skills of these schools and finally create innovative practices in coding. Also internationalization of schools and developing students and teachers’ cultural integration skills are aimed by our project.
Throughout our project, there will be one staff mobility and 5 pupils mobility besides the local activities in order to achieve this aims. All mobilities was planned according to the hosting countries expertise. But at the end all activites will create innovative practices for all the participants. By the teachers, lesson plans will be created about blending outdoor practices with algorithmic skills. Lesson plans will be discussed and applied by the other partners and will be filmed. All products will be shared on open TwinSpace pages and project websites. By the students, during the mobilities, games, arts, crafts and dances will be created. All this materials will include algoritmic skills. Then, all of this products will be shared on TwinSpace by the students. Students also will make virtual communication using TwinSpace by the help of the Forum pages. This will give students the responsibility of implementation of the project.
In addition to the positive impact on the students and their skills, our project also aim to develop teachers’ skills of digitalization and collaborative teaching practices. Teachers will make job-shadowing and exchange good practices in every mobility. Also, they will create, share and practice innovative lesson plans. All plans and practices will be able to used by all teachers by the help of EU platforms and our project website.
At the end of our project, all partner schools will be eTwinning Schools. This will show the development of our schools.
