Project Summary
Three already cooperating schools – Guilllaume Tirel, EFTH, and Tor Carbone – have decided to create a new project via Erasmus + in order to exchange good professionnal practices, to improve their students’ knowledge and broaden their international horizons. All three train students to ultimately fill in cooking, restaurant service and hospitality positions. They participate in and organize renowned professional events, such as French Craftsman/woman of the Year, ten other catering or culinary design festivals; they are adamant to adapting their work methods in an environmentally-friendly and sustainable way. The goals of the project are manifold – to exchange good professional practices, to allow all of our students, even unpriviliged ones, to travel abroad, to bring in the limelight genuine and certified produce of each country, to take on practices that respect the environment and sustainable development, to create a digital book of fusion cuisine recipes, to convey this information to a greater number of people, to arouse interest for other mobilities and/or for working abroad. The number of candidates and participants for departure is 36 – 12 in each country, and 24 travel to the countries in three gos. They are between 16 and 18 years old, they are second-year catering students, and 6 to 8 adults will accompany them on their travels.
Here is how the activities planned during the exchanges will unfold for all three schools: first, practical kitchen or restaurant work with a presentation of techniques in the morning, then professional or cultural visits in the afternoon. At the end of each day, the information gathered will be shared and discussed, and work will start on the recipes that are to be put into practice the next day. Meetings will be held in September, November and December 2019 in order to bring students in contact with each other before departure – creation of pairs by means of Chinese portraits – so that they can communicate and do research on the requested tasks – social networks will be used for communication. The person who will create the digital book and define the necessary steps for the project will be recruited, and the practices followed during the stays abroad will be organised and planned. A report meeting through video conference between the various contact people will be scheduled from October 2019 to June 2020 on a weekly basis to guarantee the progress of the project.
The expected results for our students are important and numerous :
– self-esteem thanks to more self-confidence, more capacity to adapt, more autonomy, more maturity, more interest for travels ;
– self-improvement thanks to new skills as well as professional AND general knowledge ;
– positive reinforcement of friend and family ties, of the relationship with classmates and teachers, and of the sense of belonging ;
– cultural input, use of a foreign language, link with school classes and improvement of skills ;
– more work awareness to prepare for exams, improve one’s CV with more added value, and continue with studies, travel again for an internship or work abroad ;
– better social and interpersonal skills and more motivation.
