Project Summary

Four normal public schools from Romania, Portugal, Poland and Spain, that work with students with SEN and 2 special needs schools from Greece and UK that have in common interests in finding solutions to integrate them, and a number of students on the verge of abandoning school or who left school prematurely, decided to work as a team for a period of 2 years. We will exchange good practices and creative methods for students aged 12-19,to increase school attractiveness and interest in their own education and training.
Each partner school shall adapt its currícula according to its priorities and specializations, especially in regard of inclusión and integration as means of approaching the topics of abandonment and skipping classes. Each partner school will promote informing students in terms of high risks misdemeanors, thus offering conditions to upgrade their civic consciousness, cultural and personal development. Fighting against addictions, segregation, vouching for the equal opportunities and rights for disables students, integration of the medically, social and economically challenged ones represent a major priority for our interschool exchange project.
B.I.S. project addresses the needs of teachers and students in 6 educational institutions in the European Union, and aims to find a way to integrate efficiently the methods and ideas of non-formal education in everyday classes, in order to make them more accessible and more attractive to students.In “Building the inclusive and creative school for the future! ” 59 teachers will attend training courses at institutions specialized in lifelong learning programmes focused to students who have learning difficulties, and 600 students from all partner institutions will be involved in common learning activities, virtual and face to face, using creative and non-formal methods .
Objectives of this project are: to increase the interest in school and to achieve a school effectiveness of 30% more for students in the partner institutions, who risk abandoning school or who have difficulties in learning; to reach a 10 % drop in the rate of school abandonment during the 2 years of our project in all partner schools; to train a number of 48 teachers from all partner institutions regarding non-formal methods of teaching and learning for students with SEN or social problems, to integrate in our target group of 120 students with learning difficulties, coming from all partner institutions, in creative non-formal learning activities at the european lavel. To LTT activities will participate 5 students from every school. The 3 activities during 2 years of project will bring together 65 students from different social categories, having different problems who will work together for 6 days. Consequently, due to better use of the means and methods available during class, we expect the beneficiars students in our target group (100 from each educational institution, 600 in all) to become more interested in learning and have better results at national tests. The ultimate aim is to see a decrease in the number of students who abandon school and a lower number of absences from classes.Local activities who involve creative methods esspecially for students who have learning difficulties: creativity with the use of technologies on eTwinning B.I.S project, motivate learning by the use IT&C and open educational. Students create a kind of club and they become tour guides of the local community, with the support of local governments or institutions. Club to rethink methodology at schools: students organize and meet and they think ideas that can improve education and make it more creative, team games, giving the opportunity to some lower ability students to take part, Art creating posters linked with the hometown of each country.Drama activities, such as social stories with different roles, example to be someone else. Working together creating a social story and improving their language. Dance, working together students and teachers, learning 4 traditional dances, such as country
dance.
The impact of the project for the students in the target group: greater self-reliance, greater interest in school and learning, collaboration and fair-play, new communication skills, in the mother tongue and in English, improved IT&C competences, a new attitude towards school and their own future, raising awareness about the problems their peers face, increased involvement in volunteering and charity work.
The final products of the project, the mini- guide and the data bank, will be made available to every person involved in the educational process in the institutions involved.All of us, teacher and students, have the opportunity that by means of the present project, to learn to efficiently integrate the methods and non-formal instruments to increase the appeal of the didactic process both for children risking school abandonment and also for children with various medical or social- economical problems.
