Project Summary
The project “Europe Culture Hunt” started as eTwinning project and was turned into Erasmus+ project. 2018 was the year of “Cultural Heritage” and we aimed our students to raise their cultural awareness and European citizenship with eTwinning project.
European citizenship requires the necessity of developing a positive attitude and awareness of the cultural, historical, and traditional knowledge of neighbouring or remote countries in Europe. That is the reason for another fundamental point of the project is to set up our students for gaining cultural awareness and protecting their cultural elements. So, schools from Spain, Italy, Turkey, Romania and Poland are involved in this project to share their culture and learn different cultures.
Main aim of the project is overcoming the cultural and religious differences could impede the harmonious cohabitation and development of the new generation. Another goal of this project is to provide participants awareness of the significance of the cultural heritage of Europe via education, lifelong learning, impersonal learning, sport, social equality, logical thinking and youth interaction. The project will address cultural diversity and facilitate shared common values , equality, non – discrimination and social inclusion. This can be achieved through the project’s common activities for students from countries with distinct traditions, customs, and culture.
The participants of the project will use eTwinning, twinspace and other online platforms and the ICT skills of both pupils and teachers will be improved when cultural awareness will be increased at schools. The eTwinning platform will provide flexibility and convenience in the learning environment so this will have positive effects on increasing motivation and success for learning. The participants will use ICT devices and Internet so it will be our duty to ensure pupils web safety and netiquette before the learners starts to use the online platforms.
During the project there will be six short-term exchanges of groups of pupils trainings. These training events will be held respectively in Turkey, Spain, Italy, Turkey, Romania and Poland. Learning Teaching Training activities will provide all participants, improving communication and collaboration skills, competence in digital skills and awareness of different cultures. In trainings we will focus on five essential aspects, which simultaneously make up the structure of this project. The final outcome of each reunion is a learning, teaching, and training activity. As a starting point we have used the eTwinning platform, and it will be kept active throughout the project as well. The results of each reunion will be disseminated in the respective schools (bulletin boards, the school website, the school’s Facebook page, oral presentations before the parents involved), locally (in the local press), and on the project website. All activities will be centralised in a common magazine, distributed in print and electronically.
The main participants of the project will be students and the teachers will be guides and moderators. So, we will use student-centered and project based approach during project implementation.
At the end of two years, with project’s tasks, trainings, seminars, common project’s outputs and exhibitions students and other participants will gain cultural awareness with the help of the activities to be carried out according to the ”Unity in diversity” motto. This project won’t be limited to the participant schools in it because it plans to empower parents, staff, different schools, and organizations to be aware of culture and its importance on people and society.
