Project Summary
UNITE! (University Network for Innovation, Technology and Engineering) targets to create a bottom-up network of universities across Europe which will enable students to obtain a degree by combining studies in several EU countries. UNITE! will lead the transformation of European higher education with innovative and multidisciplinary education, research, and entrepreneurship in co-creation by students and staff. UNITE! will thus become the role model for a virtual and physical European inter-university campus embedded in a network of innovative regions.UNITE! originates from three-decade-long cooperation of all seven partner institutions in the CLUSTER consortium. UNITE! builds on this track record of close and dedicated cooperation in higher education, research and innovation to develop an alliance of a new quality. By 2022, UNITE! will pioneer a new model of governance which empowers students and staff to become the owners of a new European University concept. UNITE! pursues a holistic approach to mobility (virtual and physical) with flexible study paths, joint curricula and embedded mobility for students at all levels. We will develop a joint campus, both physical and virtual, for smooth trans-European education paths and innovative inter-university teams. We will share our complementary strengths and open our unique learning, research and innovation facilities to each other. We will pioneer new concepts of education in science, technology and engineering through joint programs for innovative pedagogics (Teaching and Learning Academy). We will advance the PhD as interface between learning, research and innovation with the creation of our European Doctoral School. UNITE! will initiate among our regional ecosystems a network for open innovation and entrepreneurship.UNITE! will thus educate students in science and engineering as European and global citizens who contribute to the advancement of knowledge, European competitiveness and solutions for global challenges.
