Project Summary
With the European University of the Seas (SEA-EU), 6 partner universities launch their bid for an exciting European dynamic, thanks to their common commitment to the Blue Economy and their expertise in marine and maritime science. Europe is the quintessentially coastal continent. Seas and coasts are at the heart of the economic and socio-culturalfabric of the territories covered by the consortium. SEA-EU will open new perspectives beyond our fields of excellence. Thus, cross-fertilization of marine and medical science will help meet future challenges about food and well-being. While humanities and digital technologies will help us observe and address the resilience of human societies in new ways.SEA-EU permits its partner universities to: – share policies, procedures, services, databases and governance;- launch a full range of mobilities for students and staff;- boost multi-lingualism andEuropean multi-culturalism;- implement pluri-disciplinary, quality assured and automatically recognised curricula involving innovative pedagogies and blended learning;- drive research and innovation aligned with respective S3 priorities as engines of economic and eco-sustainability for our territories;- reach out to, and link, our broad social contexts through joint actions.SEA-EU hopes to make waves. Successfully implementing the actions proposed will turn SEA-EU into a force and focus for generating and disseminating knowledge on marine and maritime science and affairs, in Europe and beyond, and for guiding and advising public agencies in devising sustainable coastal management models. This marine/maritime dynamic will leverage other disciplines at our universities and will drive our transformation as a consortium deeply engaged by, with and for the sea.
