Project Summary
We observe nowadays raise of populism and radicalization among young people in Europe. Although the trend is Europe-wide, there are many aspects of this phenomena, as well as shades of it in different countries. What they seem to have in common, is that democratic values and human rights ideology are no longer trusted, as a part of establishment which young people contest. Young generation is supporting anti-establishment political groups on the one hand or withdraw from political engagement, avoid voting and preserve privacy on the other hand. Young people are active in Internet instead, creating anti-establishment forums, or falling under fundamental ideologies. Confirmation biases that work in alternative info-flows reassured alternative facts circulation, creating parallel realities, in which young people live and believe in.
All above mentioned problems cannot be tackled without reaching out into angry young people or on a risk of becoming potentially violent: in age of 16-24 from neuralgic territories, on a risk of exclusion. We believe that solid grassroot work with them is the only solution to reconnect the imagined realities that are falling apart. To sustain actual social integration and cohesion.
Therefore our goal is to prevent violent radicalisation (xenophobia, nationalism, racism as ideologies and attitudes undermining the value and dignity of other people) of young people in Europe on 2 levels:
– Generic prevention – keeping non-judgement, open eyes, understanding, empathy,
– Prevention of specific aspects of radicalisation in our countries (e.g. nationalism, anti-refugee attitudes, fundamentalism).
Specific objectives:
• to prepare in depth analysis for LARP scenarios based on experiences and life stories of young people from around Kraków, Udevalla, Palermo, Tallin and Bavaria,
• to use eduLARP to combat identified aspects/levels of radicalisation among above mentioned young people,
• to develop complex educational methodology – eduLARP – using developed scenarios for young people from our regions.
Project activities, besides work on the intellectual outputs: methodology description with set of scenarios, study of its effectiveness and the final publication, includes transnational project meetings, one blended mobility of young people to create scenarios together with them, as well as series of local eduLARP massive actions for young people in 5 countries: Poland, Sweden, Germany, Estonia and Italy.
The project is of a great importance for the future of European societies and deals with the grassroot level, foundaments of the European project – young people that thanks to it will not turn against each other in the future.
