Project Summary
Project title – “Development of support guidance system for emotional and physical inclusive education for school”. Numerous European reports show that the replication of certain successful performances of schools in different countries have resulted in a major increase in the quality of teaching and better academic performance, especially for pupils at higher risk of early school leaving and dropouts. The objective of the learning activities included in the project is to have the opportunity to observe a series of good practices from 3 project partners during project, in order to be able to replicate them. In this way, the participants will be able to better understand the context in which they are carried out and the methodology used. In addition, they will be able to interact with the educators and experts that perform them daily, as well as with the target group to which they are directed. Early school leaving risk prevention EC studies highlight the need for a comprehensive strategy including prevention (stimulating learning environment, equal opportunities for children in education and engagement (motivation for learning, individual approach and interaction with specific target groups such as pupils with disabilities, mentoring) skills development) and compensations (re-engagement in education and training, alternative education and training, tailor-made programs). One of the key issues is the monitoring, coordination and cross-sectoral cooperation of early school leaving. In the area of early school leaving risk prevention, an effective solution to the problem requires systemic approach and complex solutions to simultaneously implement both individual prevention measures and broader target-oriented programs to prevent early school leaving risks and also consequences.
Project aim is to promote the use of good practice in creating emotionally and physically inclusive environment. Project tasks are to get results on how to create a physical environment, organize a learning process and promote a child’s emotional well-being at an educational institution through networking and sharing best experience from partner organisations and develop guidelines/recommendations for creating a supportive environment for school and for collaboration with parents. The aim of the exchange of experience through this project is to gain new experience and, after evaluating it, to develop and implement the most appropriate guidelines for each country’s legislation and social culture. The knowledge learned will allow to plan and utilize the resources of support professionals more effectively, thus improving and making more effective the work of the support team, as well as identifying problems in a timely manner.
Support system is a guide to reduce the learner’s difficulties and risk, as well as how to promote his or her comprehensive and harmonious development based on the child’s / young person’s strengths – both physical and mental. Parental involvement and cooperation in solving difficulties will be considered as one of the key factors when creating a support model.
The project will promote the use of good practice in creating emotionally and physically inclusive environment. As there are relatively many children in schools who at some point experience mental, emotional or physical difficulties, resulting in learning difficulties, behavioral problems. The aim will be reached through the following pre-defined tasks: to get results on how to create a physical environment; how to organize a learning process and promote a child’s emotional well-being at an educational institution through networking and sharing best experience from partner organisations; to develop guidelines/recommendations for creating a supportive environment for school and for collaboration with parents.
At all project entities support teams at education institutions are governed by the educational institutions themselves. Educational institutions do not have a unified approach or procedures for the circulation of information and concerted action at the educational institution to inform parents about cases where the pupil has learning or behavioral difficulties. The direct target group of the project is support specialists in project partner educational institutions. The indirect target group of the project are pupils in all project partner educational institutions.
The project will develop intellectual output, which as described within the project application is defined as guidelines/recommendations of the effective support system at school, the material will be translated into native language of the country and English for public knowledge, both in Romania and Latvia. All the material will be open-access and will not have any kind of limit regarding its consultation or dissemination or even download. The designed dissemination strategy aims to ensure that the project results reach the widest possible audience, in a convenient way, free of charge.
