Project Summary

The General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), agreed upon by the European Parliament and Council in April 2016, has replaced the Data Protection Directive 95/46/ec last spring as the primary law regulating how companies protect EU citizens’ personal data. It has become effective on May 25, 2018 which means that companies must ensure that they are in compliance with the new requirements of the GDPR. it is important to note that any company that markets goods or services to EU residents, regardless of its location, is subject to the regulation. Since the adoption of the Regulation, the Commission has actively engaged with all concerned actors — governments, national authorities, business, civil society. A significant amount of work has been dedicated to ensure widespread awareness and full preparation, but there is still work to do. Preparations are progressing at various speeds across Member States and among the various actors. Moreover, knowledge of the benefits and opportunities brought by the new rules is not evenly spread. There is in particular a need to step up awareness and accompany compliance efforts for SMEs.

With this project, we aim at:
– helping businesses have a better understanding of the law and help them comply with the regulation which can have very positive consequences on their value chain. Well managed and secured data can increase companies’ efficiency and competitiveness, enable them to personalise and monitor the relationship with customers, gain new markets and improve products and services and ease collaboration.
– training EU citizens on how to handle their personal data with the objective for them to be able to reinforce the control over their own data and their use. They need to be aware of the risks generated by the data flow and know how to deal with it.

through:
– the development of updated CVET training resources in order to meet the new training needs and thus offer a pathway more suitable to the demand to support business managers and VET providers to build and deliver courses to address the modern challenges of the data protection ;
– online Educational resources easily accessible and more adapted to the requirements of the labour market : shorter, customized, more reactive – a digital diagnosis tool designed for business managers, an e-assessment tool combined with a mobile app, a digital board game and an escape game to train the workforce.
– the design of a methodology to provide each business with a tailor-made support (through work-based training and e-learning tools).
