Project Summary

The E-FEST project involves the following European countries Italy, Turkey, Lithuania, Greece, Bulgaria and is addressed to students of primary and secondary schools. The direct target group will consist of pupils aged 4-6 and 10-14 years and teachers from each school. Indirect group will be all the pupils, teachers, parents and the local community. The results of the project that we plan to achieve are closely connected not only to school subjects across the curriculum but also aims to encourage the students to become the ambassadors of their own culture and to become active citizens of tomorrow’s Europe.
The main aim of the E-FEST is the interest in fostering tolerance and respect for different cultures and traditions. By learning about other nations, sharing the folk traditions of their own country, searching the history, learning something new while enjoying ourselves will hopefully shape the students’ respectful attitudes and broadmindedness towards other worldview.
The subject of the project is to participate in the partnership and to motivate our students, encourage them to improve their knowledge of English, to raise awareness of other cultures and ways of life and their environmental awareness, to remember and value of the traditions of their grandparents and to raise awareness of other cultures and ways of life, to collaborate and co-operate on a project developing it.
Pupils will write a webpage, make an e-book of their national dishes and will organize a gastronomy festival for the school community including the dishes from partners’ countries, will present the national songs and dances in a video or a power point presentation to partner schools, will do a presentation of their national costumes and main festivals, will organize an exhibition of traditional handcraft. Apart from that, an online project newsletter and brochures will be made; pupils will play traditional folk games, do online games and quizzes on festivals of partner countries. As the aim of the project is to give pupils a real sense of belonging to a community and to become aware of other different cultures.
To spread the project results, as well as promote the project, the internet will be used. In this way we want to approach the largest number of potential audience in each country. Through the use of ICT we plan to reach both individual students and the whole local and global community. The project will help to promote schools in their local environment and region in the uniting Europe. The project is interdisciplinary and offers various opportunities to be connected to all the scholastic disciplines, it strengthens the communication skills in the mother tongue and in the English language used as a working language for exchanges; it also strengthens digital skills and entrepreneurship, as recommended by European directives.
The composition of the project group reflects the diversity of Europe. Common tasks will develop and strengthen the professional competence of teachers involved in the project. In this project, six partner schools are going to raise the quality of European education by promoting common aims. Our intention is not only making students to understand the traditions, culture and cultural heritage of other partners, but also to enrich the knowledge of pupils from other countries and improve their communication in foreign languages. The participants will have the unique opportunity to communicate freely and spontaneously with people from all over the world. By using English language every day they will enrich their vocabulary.
We want to exploit traditions and folklore and their application to modern life, to encourage students’ curiosity to learn about other cultures and traditions, to expand and enrich their knowledge of others, through communication as a vehicle to get to know each other and identify themselves as members of a supranational community aware of their local identity.
Information technologies will be used to communicate while working on the project and preparing final products. It should be taken into account that in the involvement of information technologies, especially the web and social networking sites, the students will become the center of information exchange and will be able to remain in constant contact with their peers from other schools. The maintenance of contacts, established during the project, will be the expected long-term effect. Teachers are aware that only through appropriate interaction with peers, parents and the local community the success can be achieved. The participation in the project will have considerable impact on the integration and common activities to stimulate all of the groups. Students will acquire the key skills needed for further learning and life: the ability to plan and evaluate activities, present the results of their own work, group cooperation and communication skills in this project.
