Project Summary
The majority of the partners in this project know each other for they have already worked together in other Erasmus+ projects KA1 or KA2. This project is based on friendship and very good relationships. It follows a sustainable development project in which the partner countries had made an organic garden. It seemed important and logical to deepen our partnership and built another project on sustainability in order to raise students’ awareness as regards bees disappearance and illnesses. The partners are general and vocational schools. We chose to work on bees in mythology and their productions, not only honey but also wax, propolis etc… We decided to work on the different applications that can be made from these products in many domains such as cooking, pastry/bakery, medicine, cosmetics. We choose to add a school with disabled partners because students with special needs should have equal opportunities to participate to Erasmus+ projects. We can all benefit of this mixing.
Why bees and honey in mythology? Because the bee has been mythologised by cultures across the world. They have appeared in many sacred texts. So it is a common point to all of us. Bees are not only necessary for their products but also for nature’s life and nowadays their disappearance, because of chemical products and diseases, is a danger for all of us. They are a very good symbol of the link between the environment and human life. Some of our students have got some bee characters in their childhood in cartoon network. One of the most famous in France is “Maya the Bee”. But they ignore many things about bees. So this project will teach them a lot and it will improve not only their cultural European knowledge but also their language knowledge and skills, their fluency in English and their skills in ICT. Indeed they will have to participate to an e-Twinning project, to a blog and they will have a private Facebook group and Messenger to communicate with their partners. Teachers will improve their skills too in ICT for they will have to create a website and to teach students how to use the different applications. Teachers will help students to create an e-book in which they will upload all the documents and information about this project and their mobilities. It is also necessary for teachers to increase their knowledge about Europe, its history, its culture, its mythology and to improve their language skills in order to be able to motivate and educate students as regards our European belonging and the possibility to go abroad for a professional life.
In this project we planned five mobilities per partner country, each mobility will focus on the mythology of bees in the host country and one topic about bees and honey . All the partners will have to work on this specific topic:
– at first we will all meet in France, Reunion island, in La Renaissance catering high school which is the coordinator of the project. We will work on bee social organisation and on the history of bee keeping in each partner country. Partners will also learn about the use of honey in cooking and traditional pastry and about bee mythology characters in France. At this first meeting we will proceed to the vote of our logo for the project.
– Secondly, we will study nowadays bees issues in our countries and we will compare our results. We will study bees and honey in cosmetics and participate to workshops. This mobility will take place in Bulgaria.
– The third mobility will take place in Greece: we will learn how bees and bee productions are used in medicine. We will particularly study bees linked with Gods and Godesses.
– The fourth mobility will be held in Italy. Each partner will make proposals in order to protect and develop sustainable bee keeping. We will focus on bees and honey in cooking and pastry.
– The fifth and last mobility will be in Turkey whose partnership is composed of three schools. There are two general schools and a school for disabled students. They will participate to all the activities according to their possibilities. We wish to give them the same opportunities as any other students. In Turkey, every country will make a summary of its mobilities and work on bees and honey in cooking/pastry, art craft, health and cosmetics. We will finish our e-projects and complete our paper book.
All along this project we will make videos, Power Points, upload documents and photos in our e-Twinning project, on our blog, on the website of the project. Students will communicate thanks to Messenger and the private Facebook group. Teachers and students will share about the different ways to use ICT and to perform their videos and e-book on line. So that we all improve our ICT knowledge and skills together.
After each mobility we will communicate about our project on line and contact the medias. In the middle and at the end of the project we will organise an event to communicate on it. Partners will share all the results of their communication events.
