Project Summary

The main aim of the international project “Parenthood as a motivation for lifelong learning in Mother Centers” is to strengthen the movement of Mother Centers in Europe. We want to achieve this goal by defining the basic Mother Centers know-how, as places of lifelong learning of attending parents, identifying differences in each participating country given by historical, social, cultural and legislative specifics, as well as to inspire Mother Centers operators in partner countries.
The project activities will follow the Mother Centers idea gradually spreaded from Germany – the country of its origin – to the Czech Republic, Slovakia and Slovenia. Participating organizations will share and inspire each other with specific approaches to the lifelong learning in Mother Centers in each country.
To meet the objectives will serve an innovative output in form of the handbook “Parenthood as motivation for lifelong learning in Mother Centers”, which will include a brief history of the movement, common know-how of Mother Centers and inspiring examples of adult learning and programs in Mother Centers in each country. It will serve in participating countries as an informative material about Mother Centers movement and to further dissemination of the Mother Centers idea even after the project. The international team will create the handbook whose members will be representatives of the Mother Centers know-how in their own country.
16 persons from four cooperating organizations from five countries – Czech Republic, Germany. Slovakia, Slovenia – will actively participate in the implementation of the three-year project.
The main benefit for the project participants will be strengthening of personal knowledge capacity of Mother Centers know-how, including their history and present situation and last but not least the active European togetherness. Project outputs will also be used by participating umbrella organizations and the Mother Centers that they represent.
Collaboration on the project strengthens partnership and encourage participants to further cooperation even after the project completion. The experience gained from this project realization will be transferable to other EU member countries and European Mother Centers movement will obtain a greater recognition at the global level.
