Project Summary
Different Eurofound studies underline the fact that low-qualified workers in Europe are in general disadvantaged in three ways: their employment options are limited, they tend to be restricted to certain types of jobs and they have fewer opportunities to participate in training than people with more education.
Besides, women’s employment and participation are still lower than those of men in almost all Member States. When working, number of women in activity are working in part-time jobs which cannot give them a complete autonomy.
In addition, related to entrepreneurship, the Commission underlined that female entrepreneurs represent only a third of the self-employed in the EU: female creativity and entrepreneurial potential are an under-exploited source of economic growth and jobs that should be further developed.
For these reasons an empowerment through a development of skills in entrepreneurship for women at risk of exclusion is the innovative response for this lack in the EU countries involved in the current project “Fostering Female Entrepreneurship Mindset – FFEM” and at EU level.
The focus will be on developing not only entrepreneurial competences (curriculum 1) but also soft skills (curriculum 2) -which help boosting productivity and retention; reconciliation of professional and personal life (curriculum 3) while fostering networking (best practices).
The activities will be conducted with adult professionals who will take part in the development of the curricula, hand in hand with women at risk of social and economic exclusion who will express their need, expectations and who will test the developed tools. The work will be undertaken by 6 organizations in 5 European countries (EL, FR, PL, PT and SP), between November 2019 and October 2021, within the Erasmus+ programme framework.
In October 2020, 3 adult professionals per partner area will be involved in the Transnational Training Event in France with the aim to become familiar with FFEM developed material, methodologies and e-learning platform where all deliverables will be accessible. Then, following a cascading model, the adult professionals sent to the transnational training event will support delivery of the in-service training in their own countries on their return home.
From November 2020 onwards, 10 nascent female entrepreneurs and 5 adult professionals per partner area will test FFEM developed tools, concepts and e-platform, therefore contributing to assessing and finetuning them. They will also take an active part in the collection of 36 best practices of female entrepreneurs and elaboration of recommendations for stakeholders and policy makers.
All in all, project FFEM targets to upgrade skills of, at least, 60 nascent female entrepreneurs and 48 adult professionals (lifelong learning). 130 people will become familiar with FFEM training material during the project final seminars. Activities linked to promotion, dissemination and exploitation of results will help to make FFEM project better known not only at local and regional levels but also at national and European levels. This will be possible thanks to the synergy created during the project and to the active involvement of women at risk of exclusion, adult professionals, stakeholders, project partners and their networks.
