Project Summary
Health literacy (HLS); is defined to an ability that make accurate and effective decisions related with their health and accessing, reading, understanding, interpreting about health information. HLS increase the healthy life year and quality, eliminate inequalities; for health workers HLS, provide professional satisfaction, correct and effective communication, effective use of clinical skills, for those receiving health care; it is an important element to be understandable, to take a more active role in participation in decision making and to benefit from better quality health care.
According to the results of the European HLS Project (HLS-EU); the rate of those with sufficient or perfect of HLS level; 71.4% in the Netherlands, 60% in Ireland, 54% in Germany and 52% in Poland. The study revealed that 12% of the adult population in the EU region had insufficient knowledge of HLS skills and 35% had problematic knowledge and skills. Inadequate health literacy remains a major problem for the entire EU region. According to results which performed in our country based on the HLS-EU scales, about 35 million of the adult population of 53 million has an insufficient or problematic level of HLS.
Health 2020: Within the framework of the European policy supporting European Union health and well-being actions, “programs that aimed at improving health and based on principles of inclusion and empowerment of people offer real benefits. For all this: building better conditions for health, improving health literacy, supporting independent life, making to choice healthy options easier “suggest activities to increase social participation and HLS.
The main objective of our project is to improve the quality of adult health education activities aimed at raising the level of health literacy of the community and to develop innovative practices in adult health education. The target group of our project is the health professionals involved in adult health education and the adult population of our region. Primary health care organizations, which are primarily responsible for the presentation of adult health education, provide contribution and support to adult health education; Secondary health institutions, other public institutions and non-governmental organizations are the target organizations in our project.
The project, in Turkey, Kırıkkale Central Community Health Center, Kırıkkale Provincial Health Directorate and Middle Anatolia Education, Culture and Development Association, Portugal from the APLICAPROPOS LDA and ASCREDNO, Austria from the Dr.Taskiran & Dr.Varol GruppenpraxisfurAllgemeinmedizin for will be carried out with the participation of these organizations.
In our project; 38 staff consisting of Adult Education Staff, Training and Research Staff, Graphic Designer, Computer Programmer and Data Entry Staff will participate.
Our company has two intellectual output: 365 Days Health Calendar and Mobi HLS/STI Application. These intellectual outputs; It is innovative training models that facilitates the delivery of health information to adult learners, makes health information easy to understand, integrates into the natural flow of life, saves time, provides adult education and provides continuity in education. Digital versions of these outputs will be available free of charge to all beneficiaries.
Within the scope of the project, two learning, teaching and training organizations, three transnational meetings and three multiplier activities are planned in the participating countries. The number of transnational meetings envisaged in the project process is normally planned three times during the 24-month project period. A multiplier event will be organized in each program country for the promotion and dissemination of intellectual outputs in the participating countries. It is aimed to increase the qualifications of the participant staff in the LTT organizations.
Short, medium and long term effects are expected on participant organizations, staff, target groups and region adult population by our project. Our project will contribute to the quality and efficiency of adult health education services to increase the health literacy of partner organizations. Medium and long term effects of our project are expected on target groups. Our project is aimed increase in quality of life, increase in early diagnosis success, increase in treatment success in chronic diseases, success in treatment, and rational use of medicines on adult population. These developments will reduce the burden on the national health system and create long-term impacts that will contribute to national development.
Project management; shall be carried out with a structure in which communication and coordination among the partner organizations are moved to the top level, the ability to cooperate in all activities, including project management, is developed, and the duties and responsibilities are distributed to the project management units.
