Project Summary
The primary objective of this project is to prepare a customized open-source training plan to close the Industry 4.0 competency gaps for supporting competitiveness and innovation in companies. The project targets the individuals who are working or willing to work in jobs that require Industry 4.0 digital competencies, employers from small and medium-sized enterprises and organizations and education and training providers and continuing VET providers. In this context, managers and SME representatives, human resource representatives and other business professionals and enterprises, especially from the electric and metal mechanic industries employers from small and medium-sized enterprises, technicians, engineers, workers of electrical and metal mechanic industries. Also, individuals who are working or willing to work in jobs that require Industry 4.0 digital competencies, VET learners, VET providers, VET/ CVET teachers and trainers, professionals of education and formal / non formal training, official bodies of continuous training representatives of employers’ organizations and social partners in the respective fields are the target group of this project.
One of the most important preconditions for the successful implementation of Industry 4.0, availability of skilled labor, is the main focus of this project. The projects that are funded under the Erasmus+ programme in the same field concentrate on identifying the qualifications of the key enabling technologies in the selected pioneer industries, developing innovative training programs to ensure that VET is given in a way to meet these competencies, integrating VET with Industry 4.0, training of teachers and spreading their knowledge to the learners and keeping VET sustainable with the aid of partners in the new world that Industry 4.0 will shape. In this project, as a complementary of the existing projects, it is aimed to prepare customized training plan to improve the digital skills and several key Industry 4.0 competency levels of professionals, increase the quality in vocational education and develop national, regional and sectoral skills in Industry 4.0-related technologies.
The project will use a methodology based on intervision by peers in workshops with relatively small groups of experienced professionals. Training contents will be created by bringing together the experience and knowledge of professionals from different countries. Meetings and interviews will be held between the partners to collect and analyze the information necessary to monitor and evaluate the quality of project activities throughout the project. Finally, the project will use and disseminate what was learned to better prepare professionals working with this population. It will establish standards of good practices, and build a training curriculum and training tools. It also aims at producing a document that can be presented at the national and European political level. An International Conference will give the opportunity to present the outcomes of the project and to discuss the topics identified in the workshops to a broader forum, with more participants and experts.
This project has three main outputs: I 4.0 Education Scale, Training & Course Materials, and Online & Offline Content. For the first output, assessment instruments will be designed, needs analysis will be carried out, educational units will be developed, report on participant countries will be prepared, benchmark analysis of these reports will be performed, and assessment design activities of the scale will be carried out. In the second output, training and course materials will be prepared. The training modules’ titles have been determined in a way to address the critical processes for carrying on the implementation process of Industry 4.0 successfully. In the last output, online and offline contents of the training modules will be created from the point of one of the main objectives of the project that carrying out educational activities to reinforce digital skills required in the Industry 4.0 era. For this output, an e-learning platform will be developed.
The project outputs will be developed in close cooperation between private sector and VET providers thus enabling to create the content of VET programme that is responsive to changing skills needs in companies and the society. The project is expected to increase the quality of digital skills, working standards and manufacturing industry in all levels of vocational education institutions. The project promotes cooperation between universities, VET providers, and enterprises, reinforces technological entrepreneurship and technical creativity as key competencies, promotes innovative training methods and increases open-source learning opportunities. The scope of the project is not only the countries belonging to the institutions and project partners in participating countries but also the vocational education institutions all over the world.
