Project Summary
The project is a program in the field of Eramus +, called “Sports and Health, the best way to enjoy learning about Europe”. It has had a total duration of 24 months, between September 1, 2016 and August 31, 2018.
As a primary objective, it was established to practice different strategies of collaborative and inclusive learning, based on the sports practice, with a customized education in the open air, and using new technology among the different organizations involved, to try to improve the performance of the students in the basic and transversal competences, under a perspective of lifelong learning. It is included in the scope of cooperation for innovation and the exchange of good practices.
It has covered the following participating organizations:
– CEIP Professor Rafael Gómez Santos (Spain). It is the coordinating center, on the island of Gran Canaria, Vega de San Mateo, a municipality of some 20,000 inhabitants. and of rural character. It has 380 students. The social status of families is medium – low, and their academic training is low, dedicating themselves professionally to agriculture or the service sector.
– Istituto Comprensivo F.D’Amico (Italy). It is located on the island of Sicilia, in Rosolini, a city of 23,000 inhabitants. It is a locality associated with the intensive cultivation of different agricultural products. There are many immigrants from the Maghreb area, which is transferred to the school. With the crisis, the factories decreased production, which meant that there was an increase in unemployment in the area. This has meant that there is a certain number of students at risk of exclusion.
– Scoala Gimnaziala nr. 2 (Romania). It is located in Lupeni, Hunedoarai county. It has 650 students, between primary and secondary. It is a mining region, which lived from the mines located in the mountains of the Jiu Valley. However, with the crisis the mines have been decreasing considerably their production, so there is a shortage of income in families, so many had to emigrate. The social status is low. It is becoming a tourist area in the winter season.
– Szkola Podstawowa Integracyjna nr.21 (Poland). It is an elementary school, located in the tourist city of Koszalin. It is an integration school, which works with students with special needs, some with physical disabilities. It has 325 students. It has prestige at the provincial and national levels.
Through the project, there has been an exchange of experiences among students and teachers from different countries, which have focused on four actions of Teaching, Learning and Training Activities (L. T. T. A.), carried out in each of the countries involved, which are the following: Poland (Koszalin): February 2017; Italy (Sicily, Rossolini): May 2017; Romania (Lupeni): January 2018; Spain (San Mateo): May 2018.
In them, there have been numerous visits to sites of scenic, cultural and social interest, of each of the regions visited. Likewise, the accomplishment of numerous activities among the educational community has been propitiated, related to the sport, the care and the health. The sports practices carried out, attending to the culture, climatology and infrastructures, have been the following: body boarding, swimming, ice skating, adventure park, orientation, skiing, windsurfing, kayaking, snorkeling, paddle surfing, horse riding and hiking in nature . Likewise, we have participated in the practice of numerous native games and sports specific to each locality, as well as carried out numerous activities to raise awareness with the health and care of our body, such as: the Solidarity Race, the day of the Fruit and talks about nutrition or first aid.
The project has promoted the dissemination of sports practice and the care of healthy habits, as a way to achieve personal well-being and to relate and integrate with others, through contact with the surrounding environment, the exchange of relationships and the improvement of self-esteem and of physical health. Likewise, it has allowed to know different places of interest, as well as to enjoy different cultures, traditions and customs. The integrating component of the same has meant that an education for tolerance and an openness to solidarity and exchange are carried out, promoting cooperation and the exchange of experiences, around gender equality and opportunities. It has fostered the development of the autonomy and personal safety of the participating students. Likewise, it has made possible the use of English as a habitual language to communicate, among the numerous participants, as well as we have learned different linguistic terms of each nation’s own speech. Finally, we can say that teachers have been able to know different ways of carrying out teaching of sports and physical and mental education, through a methodological organization that involves proposals or alternatives different from those of each country.
