Project Summary
Context/background of project
The need to exchange best practice in the field of informing and training teachers’ abilities to help students in risk situations in developing learning and reading skills, as well as in school and social inclusion.
Objectives of project
O1 – Teacher skills training for the use of effective methods of developing reading and school inclusion of students at risk.
O2 – a 3% decrease in the number of pupils with major difficulties in reading and comprehension of written texts.
O3 – Exchange of best practices in the use of reading techniques of written texts and the school inclusion of students at risk.
O4 – increasing cooperation between EU schools for joint educational activities, through partnerships in school inclusion and stimulating reading.
Number and profile of participants
– at least 10 teachers from 5 schools participating in the activities of best practices exchange, in the field of reading / learning enhancing methods. They have shown increased preoccupation for school inclusion and the development of reading skills among students at risk, increased motivation to participate in the exchange of good practice in the field, availability for multiplication of results at the institutional level.
– at least 50 teachers from the 5 schools formed indirectly (via videoconferencing) in the specified fields.
– At least 100 teachers (out of 5 schools + neighbouring schools) cascaded in the specified areas.
Description of activities
1. Team management / project implementation training
2. Selection of teachers to participate in good practice exchange in the 5 schools
3. Signing learning agreements between participants and school
4. Developing preparatory activities for mobility (pedagogical, intercultural, linguistic)
5. Carry out exchange of good practice activities: 2 teachers / school / activity.
6. Making activities to multiply the competences acquired in the schools of origin.
7. Dissemination of project results
9. Achievement of project impact monitoring at institutional level (monitoring plan)
10. Elaborate and periodically review the plan for inclusion and stimulation of reading among pupils in risk situations.
11. Monitoring and continuous evaluation of all activities carried out in the project
12. Intermediate and final reporting to ANCDEFP (NATIONAL AGENCY FOR COMMUNITY PROGRAMS FOR EDUCATION AND PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT).
Methodology to be used in carrying out the project
The following was accomplished in the project:
– 5 exchanges of good practice between the 5 partner schools to stimulate reading and school inclusion of at least 3% of students at risk.
– 2 direct training and 10 workshop/ information activities (minimum 10 teachers / 5 schools) and at least 5 indirect training / information activities (50 teachers / 5 schools) through the 5 activities scheduled to exchange best practices; their purpose is to develop teachers’ skills to work with students in risk situations with the aim of developing reading skills and for school and social inclusion.
– Activities with the students, on the e-twinning platform, in the common twin-space to the 5 schools where they will communicate and collaborate with students from project partner countries.
Results and impact
Results:
– 10 teachers (2 in each school) directly involved and 50 indirectly involved in exchange of good practice activities to stimulate reading and school inclusion; 100 teachers trained in cascades, 20 on each school, for good practice in reading literacy and school enrolment.
– 3% of students at risk, with increased reading and understanding abilities of written texts
– Improving the knowledge and skills of the teachers involved in the 5 activities in terms of activities with pupils in the field of reading and comprehension of written texts and in ensuring the inclusion of pupils in risk situations.
– Increasing cooperation and collaboration at European level for school inclusion and development of reading skills for students at risk.
Impact:
– Enhanced teacher competences for reading literacy and school inclusion
– Schools prepared to work with students at risk for inclusion and stimulation of reading.
– Learners and teachers open to learning experiences in collaboration with partners from EU countries.
The potential longer term benefits
– Inclusion of students at risk; capitalizing on European experiences / examples of good practice; cooperation through Erasmus + educational projects; a European community concerned with education and training for school and social inclusion.
