Project Summary

Education, integration and democracy in Europe

The project was going to be multi-disciplinary in its orientation and involved the following school subjects: German, Geography, History, Civics, Politics and Human rights. The working language of the project was English. The project covered various competence aims of these subjects and a whole class of 30 students aged 16 to 18 years was involved in the project from September 2018 to February 2021. Due to the lockdown because of the corona pandemic the partners in the project were forced to cancel the last poject meeting and were not able to deal with the topic integration.
Our objective behind this project was to involve, expose and educate our students to the challenges of education, democracy and integration. We wished to take our students to Potsdam and invited students of Maxim Gorki Gesamtschule to Bergen to investigate the policies adopted by local authorities. Our students and teachers got a deep insight into collaboration across borders and were able to contribute to the European idea of mutual understanding. Our students realized how important it was to learn foreign languages and to communicate in a common one. The use of modern communication technologies helped them to succeed in doing research, exchanging ideas and publishing the results.
