Project Summary

The SiE4E Project is born from a cooperation between the Municipality of Orte (IT) and the Municipality of Wieliszew (PL), created with the participation to several EU Projects as “WILL” (2012-13). The friendship bond led to the idea to create a new project under the Erasmus+ Programme together with a third school from Czech Republic.
The partnership is united by the will to improve and internationalise school education practices and social inclusion through multilingualism, to allow their students to fully become citizens of Europe and access future work and education opportunities at European level.
The three schools (Istituto Omnicomprensivo Orte (IT), Gminne Gimnazjum im. Jana Pawla II (PL), Gymnazium Dr. Karla Polesného (CZ)) have a common profile of big educational institution at local level, attracting students from nearby cities and villages, committed to the development of basic and trans-sectorial skills and in fostering an active EU citizenship through international exchanges. Also, the schools are engaged in actions for disadvantaged students to assure equal educational opportunities for all.
At the base of SiE4E was the idea that the world of work and education creates the need to acquire new and cross-sectorial skills, founded on multilingualism, to allow equal opportunities of growth for everyone, removing barriers of gender, socio-economic disadvantage, disability. SiE4E aimed to address these needs through the development of an innovative strategy for the improvement of English teaching methodologies, with mobility as a learning and involvement tool for students, especially for the most disadvantaged.
SiE4E, addressing the topics “Teaching and learning of foreign languages” and “New innovative curricula/educational methods”, aimed to develop basic and transversal skills using innovative methods, to be applied on the labor market in the tourism sector, and to create high quality learning opportunities, using EU mobility as main learning tool. The target groups have been students from 14 till 16 years old and staff of teachers.
The objectives reached by SiE4E are:
Work out a new joined teaching/peer learning strategy for foreign languages;
Improve teaching and learning quality in foreign languages;
Favour social inclusion and equal access for everyone to education opportunities;
Cross-fertilisation of teaching methods and internationalisation of educational activities;
Improve the schools’ curricula to close the gap with the world of work.
