Project Summary

Within The Erasmus + program, we present the “strategic partnership only between schools” called “RILIEVI URBANI”, composed of two members: the IISS Luigi Russo Monopoli (Italy) and the School of Art “Casa de las Torres” Ubeda (Spain ). It will be developed during the course 2018-2019.

We start from two related art schools, with some unmotivated young who do not sufficiently appreciate their local heritage and have not formed a European consciousness yet. We try to take advantage of the historic and artistic matches as a pretext for cooperation between both institutions, seeking to improve teaching through the exchange of best practices and the use of innovative methods.

The aim of our Project is the study, reproduction and reinterpretation of the reliefs found on the walls of the monuments in both cities, primarily using visual techniques such as photography, video, drawing and sculptural techniques. The reasons are studying the Renaissance period, which coincides with the Spanish presence in southern Italy. This historic movement favours artistic influences in both directions. Furthermore it is at this chronological time when urban and architectural splendour of Úbeda and Monopoli reaches its highest point.
