Project Summary
In 2018 we have celebrate the 100th anniversary of the World War 1. Our children from 10 – 12 years old have worked together to increase there skills of art, social well-being and learning from each other, Teacher have shared expertise, teaching skills and methodologies with each other. Learning through sport, ICT and art during etwinning, mobilities, skypesessons and local focus and team meetings “differences” were experienced. The ideas and methodology of restorative practices were shared and announced by understand, apply and support during the course ‘Restorative practices in education’ in Belgium by the ngo Ligand. The need to restore good relationships when there has been conflict or harm; and develop a school ethos, policies and procedures that reduce the possibilities of conflict and harm is understood, supported and followed up by the partners. Restore is started as a way of living and social behaviour in the schools.
Sharing these ideas by two members of the staff during the course encourage the opinion and methodology how to implementing ‘restorative practices’ in the schools and curriculum as an example for other schools and we hope this prevent exclusion from social structures and school interventions in the future. During mobilites and sharing art and poetry during skypesessions and etwinning, children present there future in a art language everybody understands. During Skype meetings class to class and teacher face to face reduced language and cultural barriers, songs were sung and interviews were hold after mobliities to strengthen the connection. By understanding history and making it relevant to our local communities, children lead the way to a united world this all is presented by the students as ambassadors of there schools. These Innovation, transfered good practice, new skills, experience and new technologies are in a different way incorporated into the general curriculum of the each partner school. ICT teaching techniques with etwinning tools and support activities during the classroom activities are evaluated bij staff as intrinsic motivation for teaching with 21 century skills. Visiting cities and learn about history and culture opened there minds and be aware of social inclusion and diversity. The support of children from the same age who guides the participants and present them there city and country benefits these goals.
54 children and 18 staff took part in mobilities to Belgium, France, UK or Germany, they learned about school life, culture and learned about local history to stimulate child’s natural curiosity about other lands and other culture. The website http://liveandshare.eu shows all activities, evaluations and reports with a link to the etwinning project with ict tools and download content. A photo art book is published and free to download A story book with reference to restorative practices can be used in schools who want to implementing the idea of restorative practices in educaton.
