Project Summary

The Be green, be smart and build your future (BUYF) project dealt with the problem of WEEE management, in particular of old cell phones, and the study of ways to create a business with innovative ideas for their recovery and recycling . The recycled waste from WEEE constitutes a great possibility that our territory can seize from an environmental and social point of view, with the possibility of future job opportunities.
The Municipality of San Giuseppe Vesuviano, where ISIS Einaudi-Giordano is located, has been experiencing serious environmental problems for years. The project idea was born from the awareness that our students, as citizens, should not be considered only as bearers of needs but also of skills to be made available to the collective interest, starting a synergistic relationship with the local administration and with the territory in general so far weak.
The project was coherent with the aims of the Institute which reflect the Lisbon 2020 lines, promoting the spirit of initiative and entrepreneurship, active citizenship, encouraging creativity and innovation. improving linguistic and technological skills, the quality and effectiveness of education and training.
It lasted two years and involved only two European schools: Italy, Romania. Both schools followed the various implementation phases planned jointly also remotely. The project included 4 mobilities, 2 for students and 2 for teachers, to and from Romania.
The activities followed in various stages. In the preparatory phase, the organizational aspects were taken care of, the participants took note of the aims and objectives of the project. Next steps: Training activities in which the concepts and tools are learned to establish a Start-Up for training purposes, addressing management issues, from the concept of an idea to its launch on the market. The learning methodology followed experiential learning-by-doing logic. Results: acquired the main skills and tools to develop business projects, including the correct and safe use of the main digital communication channels, the tools to facilitate entry into the increasingly digitalized world of work and raise awareness of environmental sustainability. The creation of the “BUYF” ONLUS is simulated to raise awareness of the good practices of recycling and reuse of WEEE, with reference to mobile phones and tablets.
Information and dissemination activities, sponsored by the local administration, in the main square of the country, citizens have been informed of the project and its purposes, consent is requested from them to receive on e-mail information about the channels to be followed for the correct disposal of old cell phones.
Language preparation meetings. During mobility: thematic workshops. Company visits with training interventions. Participation in The International Trade Exercise Fair “Build Up Your Future” organized in Romania by the host school in partnership with our institute, a fair of simulated companies created by pupils from schools in Romania. The ONLUS BUYF receives prizes for the best design idea, the slogan, the presentation. Activities in scientific and computer labs. Cultural visits. Job-shadowing activities, training meetings with the teachers / students of the partner school to deepen the knowledge of the G Suite for education, classroom activities for the realization of interactive lessons. Seminars on the organizational, didactic and methodological structure of the host institution, comparison between education systems. Public welcome and publicity events .The activities carried out contributed to the acquisition of an identity with a European dimension, fostered active participation in the community, improved life habits, strengthened the sense of belonging. Students, personally involved free to act, responsible for their actions, they had the opportunity for personal growth through the comparison with peers as well as on aspects of school life, also on the daily life of each of them, developed a sense of solidarity and ability to cooperate, integrate and welcome the other; acquired skills in project management, team work, gained independence, creativity, discipline, critical thinking, increased self-esteem, gained mental flexibility and predisposition to changes. The staff of the participating schools was able to compare and reflect on the various organizational methods, training offerings, types of learning and teaching, the methods of evaluation and the importance of active teaching, increased the ability to work transnationally. Our Institute has improved its image, increased its prestige with the opportunity to act in the European educational space. The impact on the local community was positive, which for the first time saw our young people confronting the problems of the area. The relationship with the local Administration was consolidated in favor of collaborative interventions in support of the actions envisaged by the project, with results that exceed initial expectations. Students participate in the FIRST CIRCULAR ECONOMY WORKSHOP, sponsored by the Municipality of San Giuseppe Ves., To develop a shared framework of the main circular economy measures applicable at the local, municipal and inter-municipal level, in which the Erasmus project is presented + and its purposes.
