Project Summary

The context of this project has risen from the fact that youngsters nowadays live in a society in which they are to face lots of changes, human migration, discrimination, social exclusion, sedentariness, fast food, social media traps, job market fluctuations and environmental issues. Our project started from the partner schools’ identified needs to provide the opportunity and the means to the 14-18 year- old students and schools’ staff to acquire and develop the relevant skills, competences and attitudes that prove to be useful in today’s world for a well-rounded individual: what to do to be healthy and active in a state of wellbeing, to spend leisure time leading to personal growth and professional development, to develop reading habits, to prepare for the job market, to campaign for environmental protection, to raise cultural awareness, social inclusion, motivation to continue education, to develop English, ICT, teamwork, leadership and organisational skills.
The target group was the students and teachers that had identified or for whom the schools identified these needs. We applied equality of chances to the target group: students who had a normal education trajectory, those from underprivileged backgrounds or risking dropping out school. They participated directly in the surveys, in the preparation of materials, in the learning, teaching and training activities, in campaigns and disseminations, regardless of their social, economic, cultural background and they acquired 100% the skills, competences and attitudes that the project aimed at. Among these, around 700 participants were with fewer opportunities. At project level, we did 99 mobilities in the 3 learning, teaching and training activities and 27 mobilities in the 3 transnational meetings. There were around 15000 persons who benefited from the project activities as target group of the disseminations through face-to face workshops, campaigns (they got a 70 % acquisition and development of skills) and through the project’s digital channels. They were students, teachers, families, local community, representatives of educational boards, unemployment offices, companies, environmental NGOs.
The activities took place at local and international level. We carried them out in preparation for and unfolding of the 3 learning, teaching and training activities and the 3 transnational meetings. We applied online surveys on eating, sports, leisure time, energy consumption habits in each school, interpreted the results, made presentations and suggestions for healthy living, beneficial leisure time activities, saving energy. We did research and made presentations about each country’s traditional food, national sport, environmental issues, job trends, consumption and its influence on environment and job market. We devised techniques for teaching literature in a pleasant way, did an experiment for saving energy, devised a manifesto for environmental protection and organized a mock job fair. During the 3 learning, teaching and training activities, our teams participated in mixed groups to achieve each meeting’s objectives through the activities that we had planned in advance and were written in the meeting programme. We disseminated the project results according to the plan of dissemination that we had devised. Our teams did the evaluation of the project meetings, dissemination workshops and campaigns and the evaluation of the project as a whole.
The results we obtained were tangible: the final products: ‘Let’s know what we eat and drink’, ‘Let’s do sports’,‘ Youngsters’ leisure time activities’, ‘Youngsters’ literature’,‘The environment-our common goal’,’The environment between consumption and jobs’, ‘Am I prepared for the job market?’, the manifesto for the environment, the campaigns:‘ A Healthy Eating Week’, ‘A Day of Sports’, ‘We Care’, the mock job fair, the project’s website, Twinspace, Facebook page, YouTube channel, the dissemination workshops, the newsletters, the articles, the questionnaires, and intangible ones: the participants’ increase of health and wellbeing, leisure time spent beneficially, reading habits’ improvement, good preparation for job market, environmentally-friendly attitude, raise of cultural awareness, increase in tolerance and respect for the people who are different, the continuance of education and better ICT, English, organizational, teamwork, leadership skills. The results were measured through quantitative and qualitative indicators, such as the number of activities, participants, Europass certificates, final products, campaigns and the quality of the materials, final products.
The impact: the target group’s acquisition of the skills the project objectives aimed at that made them ready for today’s and tomorrow’s challenges, exchange of good practices and cooperation at local, regional, national and international level, teaching materials and resources for both curricular and extra-curricular activities, skills for future projects.
