Project Summary

The project has achieved the objective of the Erasmus Plus Program 2017, social inclusion, acting on the existing procedures and practices, within the systems of protection and discharge of subjects who have been removed from their family of origin by court order and, who have been taken care of by the assignee care facilities. Through meetings with experts, seminars, study visits and international research based on interviews with care leavers and caregivers, we have developed the “Guidelines for the processes of accompaniment to adult life of young people in foster care situations” and the “Guidelines on the methodology of the Human Project applied to subjects who have experienced forced family separation”. These are useful tools, in the daily work of educators, in order to support fragile people in the development and systematization of the process of emotional/relational, housing and work autonomy. The direct beneficiaries of the project activity have been mainly adults, the “caregivers” as a whole, or those who have come into contact with the person who has left the protection process. At the local level, the project saw the involvement of trainers, social workers, volunteers from organizations, psychologists, psychotherapists but also representatives of local institutions, social services and judges from the Juvenile Court. In addition, the project has had as indirect beneficiaries the careleavers, who, through modification and innovation of the practices in use, will benefit from a system of protection and, in particular, of discharge, more structured and agile as possible, so that after the end of the period of foster care at the facilities to which they have been assigned, they will be able to take advantage of a path that allows them to be included in their own social context from the point of view of housing, work and relationships.
