Project Summary
This project, entitled « High-risk behavior : an evil to root out !» is an answer for common concerns of the four partners schools (Spanish, French, Greek and Portuguese). Spain and France had already begun this thinking in a precedent Comenius project “Don’t drop out of school, play your role” in which they fought against this evil. These 4 schools are confronted from disadvantaged socio-professional categories, with high-risk behavior and signs of dropping out of school. Project’s activities took place, as it was planned until march 2020 because of confinement, they are partially stopped and the last meeting, planned on May in France, was canceled. Then, it was difficult to work together in distance because everyone was waiting decisions in each country.
The first year ” addictive products, all concerned” was assigned to high-risk behavior due to addictive products. The second year was devoted to fight against school violence. The third year was focused on the risks associated with the excessive use of screens and sleep problems.
During these three years, we alternated theoretical contributions (conferences, formations, seminars…) and practical experiences (exchanges of practices, production of teaching aids, work groups to experiment innovative pedagogy)
In each meeting, pupils exchanged, thought together and suggested concrete actions that could be experimented in their school when they came back : prevention’s day, exhibitions, poster contest, sketches, games, quizzes…
On the beginning and on the end of each year, surveys were suggested, in each school, to see school climate’s evolution and advantages brought by this project. With these surveys, we checked project’s aims were reached and were successful.
Partners were numerous. “Agrupamento de Escolas de Nisa” tried to involve all the school. Pupils, who were mainly engaged in the project were 170, in secundary school. All the Gymno’s College, 60 pupils and their teachers were involved in all project’s activities. In IES Algazul, all the 670 pupils, in which there were special education needs pupils, took part in this project.
SEGPA’s pupils of Collège Bellevue (130 pupils), and also 800 pupils and all the teachers of this school, pupils and teachers of primary schools (there SEGPA’s pupils talked about high-risk behavior due to addictive products), other SEGPA’s classes in Tarn. Furthermore, our project was addressed not only to pupils but also to a larger public : parents, IEN, one of SDEI, doctors, nurses of DSDEN, all the educative community’s members, local associations. They were involved with pupils in our project.
We chose pupils with educational and social difficulties and pupils who dropped out of school. But we also choose pupils who were involved in school as mediator. All the educative community’s members, who wished to change their practices, took part in the project with the pupils.
Pass border meetings and short-term learning and training activities took place in the same time, two every year. Each time, all partners of each country got together.
Pupils became aware of high-risk behavior’s dangers thanks to experimentation and exchanges of practices. These concrete actions were successful because pupils were very involved in thinking, creation and diffusion of project’s products. All the pupils knew very well these tools and so they could suggest them for prevention’s actions to their peers. All created tools are posted on project’s blog and can be consulted by everybody. So we can say project’s aims were reached and we went further. Participants’ number increased compared with the number written (activities, mobilities) in the initial project. Many people have seen and commented our posts during the three years of the project. So we are proud because there was a big diffusion. We hope it will continue also several years afterwards.
