Project Summary

CONTEXT
Contemporary society is marked by the social exclusion of school-age young people, in a risk of social exclusion and social exclusion, who present backgrounds of little participation and involvement in sports practices, either because of the lack of response to defined sport strategies or because of the lack of interest in participation and involvement in sports and even society.
We find that there is an accumulation of initiatives that do not attend to the needs and expectations of these young people and that consequently lead them to paths of social exclusion and relational disintegration. It is therefore important to provide youth workers with skills and learning that make them capable of stimulating inclusive and innovative sports actions that are reflected in the proactivity of young people, not only for sports practice but also for citizenship.

OBJECTIVES
– Training of youth workers with new skills and learning based on the NFE methodology for the social inclusion of school-age youth, in risk of social exclusion and social exclusion;
– Promotion of the social values in Europe and the importance of active citizenship;
– Promotion of intercultural dialogue for diversity and social inclusion;
– Promotion of synergy among countries to increase differentiated sports strategies and promote social inclusion based on NFE;
– Empowering young people for more active and more aware social participation;
– Promotion of the participation of young people of school age, in risk of social exclusion and in social exclusion in the sport practices;
– Encouragement of the critical spirit and initiative in young people;
– Awareness raising for cultural exchange, experiences and skills for the personal and social construction of young people.

PARTICIPANTS
TC: 2 youth workers, aged 18 or over, with fewer opportunities and experience in the field of social inclusion and youth.
BM: 7 young people of school age, in risk of social exclusion and social exclusion, between the ages of 13 and 16, with fewer opportunities.

ACTIVITIES
TM: Meetings to monitor the work done and to understand if it was effectively responding to the expectations, contributions and fears of the participants and whether it was being a vehicle for social inclusion. These activities will promote the work transversal to the organizations, with different visions and contexts, in the sense of accomplishing the common objectives of the project. In this sense, transnational meetings facilitated the process of monitoring and evaluating the work, the process, the involvement and participation of the elements involved, the contributions of all and the results that were being achieved.
TC: Porto, Portugal. From January 14 to 18, 2019. The TC empowered the youth workers so that they can ensure a more efficient intervention among young people, through the dynamization of strategies appealing to sports practice and social participation, through the development of skills and based on NFE.
BM: Porto, Portugal. September 2 to 6, 2019. The activity served to continue the work developed throughout the local workshops (digital mobility) and complement with the development of new skills and new learning based on NFE. The BM served to empower young people and raise awareness of them for proactivity and personal initiative, participation in sporting practices and social participation, through group dynamics based on NFE.
