Project Summary

The project “HEALTH CREDU – Creation of healthy and safe learning environment as core drive of inclusive and equitable quality education” background related to two of EU sustainable development goals: quality education and promotion of well-being.
The project objective – was to create and help schools to apply the practical methodology to include elements of health and wellbeing education and improve academic outcomes.
The main target group: teachers, students, parents.
The additional target group: whole school community, stakeholders.
The project was highlighting a need for a combination of health education at school and the development of a healthy learning environment as core drives to improve quality and equality in education and assure more effective health prevention. Project objectives were focusing on the improvement of skills and competencies of the whole school community in the fields of health behavior, management of social-emotional climate, and the creation of an engaging learning environment.

In the project HEALTH CREDU two intellectual outputs were developed:
1. ”Healthy at school – engaged in learning” methodology
2. Interactive Teaching Tool

As a result of the project, a methodology – model of multidisciplinary approach – and a set of tools were created, implemented, tested, evaluated, and prepared for wider international usage. The described model contains the following main parts:
A. Relation between student’s and teacher’s health behavior, school social-emotional climate, and academic results.
B. Improving eating behaviors – a way to boost a student’s cognitive abilities.
C. Putting physical activity (PA) on regular basis – ways to integrate PA into any subject of learning as a core drive for stress prevention, good mood, and a healthy learning environment.
D. Social-emotional climate, competencies, and skills. What makes students happy to learn at school and feel safe?
E. Community involvement – ways to engage students and their parents to contribute to the creation of effective learning processes.
The developed methodology consists of the text files and additionally created video files, which are supporting methodology.

The Interactive Teaching – an online repository created and filled with digitalized educational content to become the main support for the educators to get open online access to major topics related to the implementation and integration of the model, developed by the Health CREDU project. The tool is filled in with the following resources:
1. Combination of text and visual media learning material in the fields of healthy eating, different types of physical activity, and emotional intelligence.
2. A number of task examples to contribute to practical learning to empower students with more ownership in their learning with instructors acting as facilitators in guiding student activities.
3. Interactive learning technologies examples to engage students.
All resources are put in the way that it would form an easy-to-grab-and-use structure characterized by three essential pillars: information to learn and teach at class (theory), practice to do at class, share the experience of others. All resources are put on the website: www.healthcredu.eu.

15 educators’ from 3 partner countries (Lithuania, Latvia, and Cyprus) were trained and obtained knowledge and tools on how to apply elements of different health-related subjects into their daily curriculum and build a more effective learning environment. Teachers obtained tools to provide more interactivity to learning and engagement students. The methodology and tools are adaptable and flexible for all subjects.
Participants’ whole school community improved its skills of eating and physical activity behavior, coping with stress, collaboration, communication, emotional regulation. 258 students and their parents from 3 partner countries (Lithuania, Latvia, and Cyprus) became more aware of the relations between health behavior and academic results.
According to teachers and student evaluation results during the piloting it can be declared that the integration of methodology and tools into the curriculum at school had a positive impact on students learning activity, motivation, learning outcomes. As schools and teachers, who participated in the IOs piloting, as well as associated partners-schools, continue using in the project created intellectual outputs, a longterm meaningful impact on the quality of education and health of the students and pupils may be expected.
The following project activities have been implemented: creation, piloting, and development of intellectual outputs – methodology and tools, teachers training, transnational partners meetings, multiplier events to disseminate the outcomes.
More than 6500 persons were introduced to the project Health CREDU developed methodology and tools, and its outcomes were well known in partner countries.
