Project Summary

The project called “Let´s cross the bounderies of primary education together” was an international project based on the cooperation of pupils and teachers of six European schools – Zakladni skola, Most, Okruzni 1235, prispevkova organizace, Czech Republic – the school is located in disadvantaged area. The students are from 6 – 15 years old and they are not only Czechs but also many different nationalities. Oberschule Westercelle,Germany – the school is situated in a part of Celle, a town in Lower Saxony, Germany. 760 students between ten and seventeen years are taught in 32 classes by 77 teachers. The management and staff of the school has wide experience with the programs implemented and co-financed by EU. Osnovna skola Strahoninec,Croatia – the Primary School Strahoninec is a small suburban school near the town of Cakovec, it is a modern school attended by 310 students in 16 forms. Sygxrona Ekpaideftiria Trikalon, Greece – Athena Private school was established in 2001 and it is situated on the outskirts of the city of Trikala. Rosengårdskolen, Denmark – the school has classes from kindergarten class to 9th Grade and is a public school. Escola Barrufet, Spain – Barrufet public school is located in the suburb of Camps Blancs. Many pupils of all partnership schools are children with problems in their families (single-parent families, divorces, unemployed parents…) Nowadays classes are more often mixed ability classes, including children with special educational needs or children with different ethnic background, or economic obstacles, and using new approaches help them be motivated, enthusing even the most challenging. So we worked with them to improve their relations with other children, their self confidence and their results at learning.
The project was focused on motivation of pupils from partnership schools and broadening their knowledges about 8 chosen school subjects – Physics, Maths, Geography, Music, History, PE, Art and Civics. The main aim of the project was creation and publication of 9 issues of „school“ magazine – each focused on one school subject plus one special issue focused on Christmas traditions of each country. We chose twinspace as the main space for sharing all the outputs and activities, and so we set up eTwinning project where we could discuss everything in a safe environment.
The issues were published once per 2 months on average. Because English was the common language of communication for all partners, it was also the main language of this school magazine. English version of each issue was uploaded on-line in Twinspace and we have also established an online library where we have uploaded some magazines in mother tongues versions. Magazines were also printed in English and mother tongues version to be distributed to the widest range of readers not only at partnership schools but also to parents. The content of the magazine was created according to a pre-arranged plan and was worked on by pupils and teachers from all partnership schools.
In addition, there were other activities that complement our cooperation. In twinspace you can see presentations of all partner schools, we have organized so-called Mystery skype, which was a mysterious video meeting of younger pupils. At the end of the first year, all schools organized the so-called Era + Day, where the pupils presented all previous done project outputs to other classmates or parents.
Teachers’ visits were an integral part of our project cooperation – there were 5 short term staff training events that were focused on workshops and training events based on activities connected with chosen school subjects. All participating teachers participated actively in all the activities prepared by host school and after the mobility they informed their school management, passed on their experience to other colleagues and always evaluated these mobilities.
At the beginning of the project the coordinators of each school and one more teachers met at transnational teacher´meeting in Celle to disscus all the activities and project outputs. We planned the dates of all the mobilities and shared responsibility for the outputs and other activities. At the end there was also evaluating meeting in Most where coordinators of all schools discussed the possibilities of disseminating project results and possible further cooperation.
Both the project magazine and teachers´mobilities have had an impact mainly on teachers and pupils of all partner schools. In all, a lot of pupils and teachers of all participating schools were directly involved in the project, preparing mobilities, during mobilities and after disseminating or indirectly by dissemination of their experiences.
We believe that we improved English language knowledge, broadened and improved digital skills, made the use of eTwinning portal more popular. We exchanged didactic materials, experiences and ideas among teachers and made friendship between our schools.
