Project Summary
The aim of Green Guest, which brings together actors from the world of education and the world of business, is to provide a global approach to employment and training in the hotel and restaurant sector based on corporate social responsibility. This sector suffers from a devalued image even if it is provider of many jobs. Its commitment to sustainable development can be transformed into a decisive competitive advantage for the company.
Current and future professionals in the sector have been sensitized to the issue of sustainable development and the acquisition of new knowledge and skills to address environmental policies in accordance with the recommendations and roadmaps of the 2015 COP 21 in Paris.
Green Guest, a partnership consisting of associations of hotel companies (France, Italy), vocational training organizations (France, Italy, Estonia), a university (Hungary), an ICT sector company ( Poland) has developed several tools including an online course on sustainable development in the hotel industry, inspired by serious games, a “Green Challenge” for vocational education and training schools and participated in several events aimed at promoting the sector and inspire people to turn to these trades, combining workshops, exhibitions, conferences and job fairs.A marketing approach was designed to make the actors of the sector aware of the challenges at stake and the advantages they can draw from it.Two maps were used as a basis for productions: one about the analyses of policies implemented by corporate groups or smaller businesses in favour of sustainabilty, the other about the greening process of national VET curricula and gaps to be filled in
The partnership worked to create a professional training for professionals and future professionals in the sector based on a repository provided by combining face-to-face courses, innovative online learning and work-based learning through internships, visits and learning activities for future professionals, sustainable development experts and companies.
