Project Summary

Part one :” Origins” – the students collected materials about first settlements on their lands, tribes, geographical conditions. They tried to answer questions about national characters, what they were determined by( location, terrain, access to food, living conditions, historic events, migrations etc). The students acquired editorial and ICT skills through writing essays, publishing articles, online magazines, booklets and powerpoint presentations about first settlements in their regions, and most singificant historic events which might have affected national characters and regional costumes. The students also conducted a research and created a map of migrations in their regions which they presented in Germany. They gathered samples of cloth, pictures, handmade pieces of clothing, embroidery, knitting, handscrafts, examined how fashion and the materials evolved, what was the evolution determined by.The students participated in lots of workshops on this subject líke making hats, masks bags, knitting, redesigning old clothes, sewing etc. As a result they produced many products to be shown on the main event ´´Europe on Catwalk´´fashion show. The students presented there their traditional costumes and all the workshop products. The main products of the workshops and all the research were on the online and published versión of the fashion magazine which included all the information about the evolution of fashion, presented modern designs based on traditional costumes. By this way the students got the awareness how they can use traditional motives in modern, trendy designs. The students designed a calender with the photos from the catwalk and traditional costumes.

Part two : ” Nature and Physiognomy ” – the students studied the aspect of human physiognomy and character and related them to geography. They took photography classes focusing on taking photos with mobiles or simple cameras by professionals (according to the main aim of the project which was providing students with hobbies) .They went outside to the streets of their town and observed local people in their natural surroundings like their places of work doing their typical activies to take photos of them. The best potos were presented during the international photo exhibition in Poland called ´´Faces Of Europe´´. All the visitors including the students and local people voted for the best ones in three categories (faces, activities and gestures) choosing the best works which were later awarded. They created a questionnaire about attitudes of the people in their regions and had a common idea of how geography affected the mood of the people .The results and the analysis of the questionnaires were presented on the project website and the blog. The students analysed paintings of famous expressionists and symbolists and tried to recréate them by bringing them life and taking artistic photos of them which were later used in calendars ,exhibitions etc.The students studied the movement, expression of the people in the paintings before they took photos. The next step was to collect and analyse the popular proverbs, common sayings, idioms and quotes in different countries revealing the values and vices for the people in their regions under the effect of geography. They fostered their knowledge by taking part in various language workhops (dramas, basic language classes, illustrations of the proverbs, idioms etc.in Romania. All the products were gathered together to design a published dictionary and its online version with audios called………………………………………….
Part III : ” Philosophy of Cuisine” – the students made research and collected old traditional regional recipes for food and drinks, healing methods , herbal remedies etc . The students took part in cooking workshops (preparing cheese ,herbal studies). A winery conference was held and wine tasting sessions were held by a university oenologist. The main event was held in Portugal called “Chefs of Europe”- an open cooking experience- learning to cook regional specialities. All the food which was prepared was exhibited and served to the school and local community where the people could taste the food from different countries. The students created online and published brochure of natural treatment methods and a cookery book which were translated into all the languages of cooperation. To prolong the cooperation and get a better study of the subject of cuisine the students and teachers planned another e-twinning sub project dealing with food , herbal remedies and healthy cooking which will provide the students with another hobby and improve their eating habits.
