Project Summary
Our one-year project “Me, myself and my internet” involves 2 partners: The Instituto di Instruzione Superiore “A. Cesaris” from Piacenza (Italia) and the Lycée Jean-Pierre Timbaud from Brétigny Sur Orge (France).
All the students involved attend technology courses (Incluing ICT Information and Communication Technology) some of which are taught in English (CLIL Content and Language Integrated Learning).
We have noticed a lack of motivation and self-confidence among our students. They show some difficulties to communicate in English. They have poor knowledge of the European way of life of their neighbours. A few of them drop out of school.
Therefore we decided to organise self-presentation collaborative activities (using eTwinning plateform). Then students will study topics about how personal internet data are used.
Students will work in bi-national groups in order to promote inter-cultural exchanges. Taking part in the mobilities will allow them to achieve our goals (improving language skills, motivation, self-confidence, ability to work in groups, knowledge of the school systems and of the possibilities and traps of internet use, increasing school performance). The final productions will include the creation of web pages, posters and an exhibition on the topics studied in our schools. Each school has chosen to involve a whole class so as to fully include the project in our teaching. About 20 students, aged 16-17, mostly boys, will take part in the project. The one-week mobilities with reciprocical exchanges in both schools will consist in the presentation of and further investigations into the topics studied by the students, sharing the experience of a day at school and local way of life, as well as the cultural discovery of the country (sightseeing, visiting landmarks, monuments and museums).
This project will extend the European actions that both schools have been carrying out for several years.
