Project Summary

Like their fellow students the participants in the Erasmus project OWNING THE FUTURE are preparing themselves for a world that is changing faster than ever. Will they own the future … or will the future own them? Our Erasmus+ project brought together students from across Europe to share their thoughts, exchange their cultures and give them a forum to inverstigate what their future might look like and give them the confidence to shape it.
From the first meeting in Augsburg – with the inputs and impulses provided by such experts as Jaakov Hecht and George Pennington – via the following meetings in Murcia, Strassburg, Augsburg, Penzance and Cornwall we have aimed at making the students decide on the various foci of this project. In the two meetings in Augsburg the foci have been on Participation, Project Work and Learning from the Past. The meeting in Murcia focused on Inclusion and the Visions of Future Education. Ecology and Sustainability plus Learning from the Past were the main foci at the meetings in Penzance and Amstelveen. The individual activities, the cooperations as well as the results are described in detail on our common Erasmus website: https://sites.google.com/mountsbay.org/erasmus2018/home
It goes without saying that not all the ambitious aims we have been striving for have been achieved to their full extent. However, we have managed to implement a considerable amount of our project results in the individual partner schools and disseminate some outcomes of our Erasmus project OWNING THE FUTURE even beyond school. So in retropsect the project OWNING THE FUTURE has met our high expectations.
The experiences and outcomes of the Erasmus project have been useful in the neggotiations of the Holbein Gymnasium with the City Council concerning the planning for the school restiration. The Maria Theresia Gymnasium has declared the focus of the last Erasmus meetings in Penzance and Amstelveen – Sustainability – as the school motto for the current school year. The Amstelveen partner school benefitted from the focus on Visions of Future Education is so far as these ideas and impulses will be used for the planning of the new school building. last but not least th Spanish parter school and the coordinating Maria Theresia Gymnasium have launched a new Erasmus project on the UN Sustainability Goals in which new partner schools in France, England and Italy will participate.
