Project Summary

The context from which our project is born is in the belief that once school begins, there is a need for active family involvement. The mission of the families is to support the education of their children initiated within the family and continue through the school, being necessary an active involvement in school activities.
When the two educational contexts, school and family, meet, complement and support each other, they would allow a good integration of the child, both in school activities and in social life, to affect the economic, social or cultural environment of the family.
Under this premise our project is born with three main objectives which are:
1.- To build a true beneficial partnership between school and family through a relationship based on collaboration, communication, participation and responsibility. In this way, we have managed to consolidate the role of families with respect to their ability to educate, we have promoted the closeness of both educational environments and we have established the ties of family participation in the educational institution.
2.- To know the teaching staff different educational models that will be of help in their activities. The three participating institutions have learned new methods, new communication techniques and relationships with parents. Counseling activities for parents have been carried out as workshops for families and families have carried out school activities and extracurricular activities.
3.- Students have participated in a series of activities with the objective of improving their participation in their own personal development. Both the mobilities and the activities carried out in our own institution have served our students. We have experienced some enriching experiences that have allowed their personal development both intrapersonal and interpersonal, enhancing relationship values as well as an approach to other cultures.
The three objectives coincide with our project target groups that encompass the educational community of our center. Families have been our main group since the main objective has been to involve them in the life of the center. As described in the third objective, students have also played a very important role in the design and planning of activities and, finally, the teaching staff of the center has also played a key role in two lines. The first of them, as an objective group to form to learn about new methods, strategies and practices of communication, relationship and involvement of families. On the other hand, because of the imperative need for its involvement in order to develop this ambitious project that we started two years ago.
There have been many activities that have been developed throughout the project to achieve the proposed objectives. Below we highlight the most relevant:
1.- Project logo through an online contest among the students of the three centers. This logo has been the emblem that has represented in our drawing the philosophy of our project.
2.- Creation of the e-twininig page where we have published the activities and materials carried out throughout the project.
3.- Leaflet “Children ask-Families respond”, material that has allowed us to observe that the culture or country in question does not matter since the concerns of adolescents are the same.
4.- Family Workshop: place that has served to offer families educational guidelines for the not easy task of educating and where families have been able to expose their concerns or the difficulties that arise in the educational process.
5.- Family album: during the mobility to Lithuania, the students produced a beautiful family album with images of the most representative of family time and where all family members appear.
6.- Calendar: We have prepared an emotional calendar in which the most significant moments of this whole project appear, also including a specific national element in order to promote national identity at European level.
7.- Good practices brochure: dossier in which the successful actions that we have known from each of the countries are collected and that will serve as a basis for establishing a positive and effective involvement of families.
We would like to emphasize that having allowed our institution to participate in a European project has contributed to open our institution to other educational realities, expand our network of successful educational actions related to the involvement of families in the school, increase the personal development of teachers , families and our students and establish communication ties that will guarantee the success of our students.
