Project Summary
Migration issues arise in the context of social development and the debates of the social partners at various levels. These were the reason for our project “I AM A CHILD AND I DO HAVE RIGHTS”. This project is a cooperation of six schools from five countries, which differ significantly in their social structure and educational programmes (among others, the coordinating school is a special school for children with emotional and social development problems). These schools differ in their social and conceptual structure, but are all confronted with migration and asylum seekers. By withdrawing migration and applying for asylum, abstracting it through the medium of the UNCR, it has been possible to improve empathy, social and intercultural competences and child-friendly tolerance. We have also sensitised our pupils to discrimination and social segregation, in line with the European spirit. The cooperation between our schools, already established in earlier projects, was seamlessly continued in the current project. Within the framework of various workshops on topics and methods and best practice, our teachers received further training in various areas (art, photography and image processing, music and recording techniques, social learning). The project could make an important contribution to the professionalization of the teachers as well as to the personality development of the students. The international exchange revived and enriched professionalism and school life.
