Il Salone dei Rifiutati
Project participant: il Salone dei Rifiutati
Name of the project: ReDo Factory
What’s the heart of your pilot in Collab 4 HySust CCI?
Re—do factory is a creative practice to experience sustainability by playing, where play becomes a serious way to learn by doing with waste material. The goal is to create play-educational kits starting from recycled material, tools always inspired by artistic practices as a research opportunity to think with the hands and give shape to a sustainable world. Redo aims to create a network between companies that donate waste, the MOON Museum that transforms it into play-educational materials for training and schools and cooperatives that benefit from the workshops. The goal is to test the potential of this approach in various areas and put them into a system in the medium and long term as a stable service offered by the cooperative.
What’s something you’re really proud of achieving so far (with your project inside Collab 4 HySUST CCI)?
We are testing the workshops on several occasions, and after the first two pilots, teachers and cooperatives have requested training sessions for students, operators, and workshops open to the community, which will be held next week.
Where do you see your project heading next?
Re—do is a pilot project that has yet to establish stable collaboration between institutions, companies, and the educational community. The future goal is to institutionalize the system, making the service stable for schools and cooperatives. This will involve creating a network between companies, institutions focused on the environment and waste disposal, and the MOON Museum, which will transform waste materials for training and workshops dedicated to teachers and operators. The aim is to create a community pact that can turn the project’s methodology into a sustainable service and enable the MOON Museum to connect with the international network of Hands On Museums.
What do you think is the most valuable thing that the Collab 4 HySUST CCI project has brought to you?
Redo is an approach that can be easily scaled and the challenge we have set ourselves with Collab 4 HySUST CCI is to think together with the mentor about a long-term vision to go beyond projects and plan a more structured path, where the output is a business model. In addition, this project is an opportunity to network at European level and broaden knowledge of good practices.
From your experience participating in the Collab 4 Hy Sust CCI project, what advice would you give to organizations similar to yours?
It’s essential to take time to explore successful practices already in place, especially those that may be lacking in one’s own territory. Analyzing these practices and carefully planning how to translate an idea into a feasible project is crucial. Additionally, building strong relationships and partnerships is key to launching and executing projects that bring new resources to local communities.
Would you like to add something?
Our future goal is to engage the municipality and region to provide us with a space for a larger museum, allowing us to become part of the international network of Hands On Museums.
