Project Summary

The project “Maths and Science Adventure” is a project addressed to all the schools that are interested in improving Maths and Science students skills using innovative teaching methods based on the diversity of ICT tools. The target group are the students and the teachers from secondary schools. Our project is focused on student-centered and problem-based active learning using multidisciplinary and inter-disciplinary approaches and through fostering critical thinking skills by addressing everyday life problems and/or environmental contest in teaching Maths and Science. In the project the teachers develop innovative didactical materials that can be easily used by other schools. All in all, we expect to improve the pedagogical, mathematical/scientific, linguistic, cultural, communication and information technology skills of all teachers and students. Thanks to our varied activities, students will discover the multiple facets of the world of Maths and Science and realise that Maths and Science are fun, useful and important. To name a few activities, we will start off with some history (Gallery of famous scientists) to illustrate the foundation we stand on, followed by essays with the title ”Where can studying Mathematics take you?”, which help students discover all the career prospects related to the field of mathematics. Moreover, Scientific Kaleidoscope provides our students e.g. with quizzes and anecdotes about mathematicians and scientists, which prove that Maths and Science can actually be great fun! Students also get to read and write interesting articles in our magazine and blog, study in a virtual platform on Adobe Connect Pro and Edmodo platform, enjoy the multiple events of our Science Festival and Maths Festival, and test their skills in Maths, Physics and Chemistry Competitions. To top it off, we expect both students and teachers to get the opportunity to improve their English skills and information technology skills, learn more about new cultures and feel they are part of the European family. Participating organisations get a fresh breeze of international atmosphere and hopefully there will be increase in understanding the importance of learning foreign languages, discovering new cultures and creating international networks. We can all learn from one another!
