Project Summary
The project “OUR HEALTH ACADEMY” was implemented by the School Complex in Sosnowiec and I.I.S. Marconi from Viareggio – secondary technical and vocational schools. The aim of the project is to educate participants of the need to take care of their own health and to develop the skills necessary to protect and improve health through:
– getting to know the tradition of cuisine in Poland and Italy;
– arousing interest in one’s own health and pro-health issues;
– education for factors that threaten health and methods of health protection;
– inspiring young people to take various activities promoting the healthy lifestyle inside or outside the school;
– indication of the impact of poor nutrition / healthy lifestyle on health;
– creating conditions for shaping health and safety in various situations;
– awareness of the benefits of physical activity;
– awareness of the relationship between diet and health;
– awareness of health risks in different situations;
– shaping the right proportion of time management during the day
The project involved:
– students of vocational and technical classes in the age range from 15 to 20 years
– teachers of foreign language, biology, physical education, mother language, psychologist, pedagogue
– management staff – director, deputy director
– administrative staff, accounting
– parents
– social partners eg associations, sports clubs
– local government
– representatives of local media
A project group was established in each partner institution, the participants wiere included in the various stages of its implementation.
Activities planned for implementation included
– workshops on culinary traditions in Poland and Italy –
– workshops on a healthy diet
– consultations with a dietician
– competitions on Polish and Italian cuisine and healthy eating
– organization of the Italian cuisine day in Poland and the day of Polish cuisine in Italy
– preparation of a cookbook containing recipes of Italian and Polish cuisine
– consultations with the trainer – increase of knowledge and competences on matching the forms of physical activity for a given person
– organization of various forms of physical activity adapted to the needs and capabilities of the participants
– organization of the day of sport
– organization of psychological workshops on addiction and proper time management
– organization of youth exchange
The implementation of this project contributed to the implementation of the European Plan for the Development of Social Security in Sosnowiec and I.I.S. Marconi on the level:
– staff – development of language, IT, logistic and pedagogical skills in the promotion of a healthy lifestyle
– students – increase of knowledge and competence in the field of dietetics and culinary traditions of Poland and Italy, active spending of time, coping with stress and rational time management.
In addition, competences were developed at the level of efficient communication, management, establishing contacts with the local environment and effective promotion.
