Project Summary

The project “Water – Woda – Wasser” of the Austrian School HLW Türnitz and the Polish Group of Schools no. 12 in Gdańsk deals with the topic of water in a very broad sense.

As both countries pay enormous attention to the protection of natural environment, the topic “water” concerns all participants.

In the project activities the participants dealt with different aspects connected with water – they examined different landscapes like lakes, rivers and the sea, learned about the fauna and flora, studied the influence of man on the local environment in different aspects. By involving the students in hands-on activities they learned how to protect and respect nature.

Various means of communication were used to enable the exchange of ideas among the participants.

Besides, there were learning/teaching activities where the students and the teachers met in the respective partner countries in order to work together on the topic. In workshops, during excursions, by meeting experts, by presenting presentations, by organising events and field trips the participants immersed into the subject.

Apart from teaching the students hard skills, the project offered the chance to develop different soft skills which increase the employability of the young participants.

Last but not least, the project was meant to promote intercultural communication and increased knowledge of sustainable development. The video clips and the visual material produced in the course of the project show the different findings and can be used for educational purposes and dissemination.

Education about water, ecology, in the frame of a European project gave young people the opportunity to develop critical thinking about complex issues and it educated them to be responsible global citizens. The project helped to raise awareness for valuing the Earth as precious and unique. The participants realised that we have to protect nature and the water resources for those coming after us.
