Project Summary
Since there has been less activity regarding the development and implementation of open access education courses in the field of occupational health and safety (OHS) at university level containing the topics needed for education of future OHS engineers, it is of great importance to develop and modernize higher education courses in order to meet the challenges of the specific time we currently live in, when traditional teaching methods are being replaced by remote learning methods. In order to develop high quality multidisciplinary teaching materials sharing of experiences and resources at the university level is particularly important. Beside the numerous online trainings in the field of OHS there are insufficient number of high quality teaching materials aimed for bachelor and master OHS students, which contain the elements of curricula from different universities. Moreover, the most frequent topics which are available are addressed in training programmes for workers and specialists in different industries, but there is no evidence of existence of open access courses which contain basic principles of OHS presented at higher education institutions. Priority will be given to promotion of innovative practices in teaching and learning methods in order to improve the higher education system which is facing significant challenges due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The overall objective of Project DOHASS is developing digital capacities of higher education institutions in the field of OHS in order to provide high quality online and remote learning lessons and practical exercises. The DOHASS project aims to introduce innovative approaches to the OHS studies by improving and modernizing online lectures in the field of: Preventive measures, Risk assessment in the field of occupational safety , Designing of occupational safety management system, Physical and chemical parameters of the working environment, Occupational Medicine, Occupational safety, Analytical chemistry in occupational safety and health, Emergency Management, Environmental safety in emergency situations, Chemical Safety in Industry, Toxicology, Radiation Protection and Radioecology at universities in Serbia, Slovak Republic and Czech Republic. The Project will result in openly accessible educational resources, textbooks and online education platform, which will contain lessons, laboratory, field and computational exercises in pdf format, photographs, audio ppt and videos. Since the material will be prepared in different languages (Serbian, Slovak, Czech, and English), it will be possible to use them in other countries with similar study courses (Bosnia and Herzegovina, Slovenia, Croatia, Montenegro, EU countries). Multidisciplinary teams from partner universities (OHS engineers, work medicine teachers and experts, analytical chemists and data scientists in the field of machine learning and computational intelligence) will be formed in order to develop innovative methods and tools for remote teaching and learning of OHS higher education courses. Moreover, the Project is designed to develop and modernize courses, which could be used after the pandemic, providing high quality digital content and multilingual learning material needed for developing the competences of future OHS experts.
